국문 초록

본 연구는 한국보건사회연구원의 복지패널 자료에 의거해 저소득층 가구에서 일어나는 빈곤의 재생산 동학을 실증적으로 규명해 보고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 저소득층 가구의 “경제박탈(외부상황)-가구우울(내면인식)-가정불화(행위표출)” 사이의 관계를 불평등 담론에 기초해 연구모형을 구성하고 모형 적합도를 비교하였다. 전통적 불평등담론은 통상적으로 구조우선적 관점을 지향해 왔다. 그런 입장에서는 저소득가구의 경제적 박탈상황이 가구원의 우울과 불화를 결정하는 선행 변인이 된다. 하지만 최근 불평등 양상은 다차원･복합적 양상으로 변모하고 있어, 배제와 박탈이 일상생활에 전면화하고 있다. 따라서 가정 내의 우울과 불화가 구조적 요인에 의해서만 설명되는 것이 아니라, 복합적인 상호의존 관계의 산물로 나타날 가능성이 높다. ‘신빈곤(new poverty)’으로 설명될 수 있는 이 같은 빈곤의 질적 변화를 포착하기 위해서는 기존의 구조중심적 관점을 탈피한 새로운 시각이 요구되는 바, 본 연구는 자기회귀교차지연모형(ARCL)에 의거한 실증적 분석을 통해, 한국 저소득층 가구 안에서 일어나는 ‘박탈-우울-불화’가 다중나선형적으로 상호작용해 빈곤을 재생산하고 있음을 함축하는 최적의 설명 모형을 경험적으로 확증해 보고자 했다.

영문 초록

This study empirically investigates the reproduction dynamics of poverty occurring inside low-income households in Korea, by utilizing data from the 3rd-9th waves of KOWEPS, KIHASA, on a biennial basis. To this end, this study models relationships among ’economic deprivation(external conditions) - depression in household(internal perception) - family conflict(acting out)” in low-income households. Traditional discourse on inequality conventionally presents structure-centered perspective. And from this point of view, economic deprivation conditions in a low-income household determine household members’s depression and trouble. However, recently, the aspect of inequality has changed to the aspect of multi-dimensional and complex inequality. And exclusion and deprivation is expressed entirely in the life world. Therefore, depression and conflict inside household is not explained by structural factor only, but is placed in complex interdependence. In order to grasp the above-mentioned change in poverty, which may be commonly called ‘new poverty’, a new study perspective escaping the previous structure-centered perspective is needed. And this study aims at directly verifying this necessity. According to the results of analysis through autoregressive cross-lagged model (ARCL), it was possible to verify that the model was optimized one when relationships among deprivation-depression-conflict occurring inside low-income household became cross-sectionally inter-related and longitudinally inter-causal, differently from structure-centered perspective. This is defined as ‘multi-spiral/helix model of new poverty’ where ‘deprivation-depression-conflict’ inside low-income household is entangled cross-sectionally and longitudinally. And through this, the reproduction dynamics of new poverty occurring inside low-income household was empirically tested.
