통계로 본 가족실태 및 태도와 그 사목적 의의

국문 초록

본 연구는 ‘가족’과 관련된 통계지표 및 사회조사 자료 분석을 통해, 가톨릭교회의 가정사목적 효과 및 향후 사목의 방향을 성찰하는데 간접적인 도움을 주는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이와 관련하여 주로 활용될 경험 자료는 한국의 전반적인 가족실태를 직·간접적으로 보여주는 통계청의 인구·사회학적 지표와 결혼관, 출산 및 자녀관, 생명, 성(性)에 대한 태도 및 역할의 변화, 결혼생활의 만족도 등 가족에 대한 전반적인 태도를 설문한 2003년, 2008년, 2012년도 「한국종합사회조사(KGSS)」 자료이다. 두 종류의 통계자료를 분석한 결과, 먼저 한국은 심각한 저출산·고령화 사회에 처해 있다는 사실을 확인하였다. 특히 지속적인 출산율 저하와 생산가능인구 비중의 급감, 노인 비중의 폭발적 증가로 인하여 젊은 세대의 부양비에 대한 부담이 커질 것으로 전망된다. 설상가상으로 부의 양극화, 청년실업 증가, 불안한 고용시장 등 경제적 불안요소들이 안정적인 가족공동체를 형성하는데 있어 젊은 세대들을 더욱 위협할 것으로 보인다. 다른 한편, 가족에 대한 인식 및 태도를 측정한 사회조사에서 가족에 대한 설문문항을 5개 범주 -결혼관, 가족부양, 생명, 성(性)에 대한 태도, 결혼 만족도- 로 나누어 종교별 차이를 비교 분석한 결과, 가톨릭 신자들의 가족공동체에 대한 연대의식과 중요성 인식이 상대적으로 약하게 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라 자살관련 유경험자가 상대적으로 높고, 가족생활 만족도 및 행복도 역시 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과들은 가톨릭교회가 가족에 대한 중요성을 회복시키고 마음을 치유할 수 있는 사목적 프로그램을 개발하는 것이 시급히 요구되고 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to make an indirect contribution for Catholic church to adequately fulfill the family ministry through analyzing statistics and social survey data related to "family". In this regard, empirical research data mainly utilized in this article are demographic and social indicators of Statistics Korea and Korean General Social Survey 2003, 2008, 2012 including questionnaires measuring attitude and value related to marriage, having baby, children, life, and sex and marital life satisfaction. The first thing drawn from the result of analyzing both quantitative data is the fact that we, south Koreans suffer from severe low birthrate and the aging society. It is, especially, expected that the young generation would feel much more pressure as the ratio of birth and economically productive population has dramatically been decreased while the senior citizen rate has rapidly been increased. What's worse is that the income and wealth disparity, the increasing youth unemployment, and unstable job market condition would aggravate family disorganization as well as make it challenging for the young to have stable family in the future. On the other hand, as the result of analyzing and comparing differences among religious groups regarding Five Categories - attitude of ① marriage, ② family responsibility, ③ life, and ④ sex, and ⑤ marital life satisfaction -, it revealed that the Catholic have weaker family solidarity than other religious groups. Besides, the believers in Catholicism show that the attempted suicide rate is relatively high while the level of family life satisfaction is low. These conclusions point out that pastoral programs for healing broken hearts and restoring the importance of family are urgently needed.
