한국 노인의 주관적 건강상태 변화가 자녀로부터의 지원 제공 변화에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 노인의 주관적 건강상태가 변화함에 따라 자녀로부터의 지원 즉, 만남빈도(정서적), 금전지원(경제적), 돌봄시간(도구적)이 어떻게 변화하는지 고찰하고 이러한 변화가 노인의 성별에 따라 차이가 존재하는지 살펴보는 것이다. 한국고령화패널연구(KLoSA), 2006년 1차부터 2012년 4차까지를 활용하였으며 1차 시점에서 65세 이상이면서 4차까지 생존한 패널, 남자 1252명, 여자 1850명 총 3102명을 연구대상자로 선정하고 잠재성장모형(Latent Growth Modeling)으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 남성노인의 경우 첫 시점의 주관적 건강상태가 나쁠수록 첫 시점의 만남빈도가 유의미하게 낮았으며 남녀 집단 간에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 첫 시점의 주관적 건강상태가 나쁠수록 자녀로부터의 금전지원이 낮았으며 이는 남녀 간 차이가 없었다. 첫 시점의 주관적 건강상태가 나쁠수록 돌봄시간 초기값은 높았으며 이 경로는 남녀차이를 보였다. 주관적 건강상태가 시간에 따라 악화되는 변화율이 자녀로부터의 돌봄제공 시간 변화율을 증가시켰지만 여성노인의 경우 남성노인 보다 자녀로부터의 돌봄제공 시간 증가율이 훨씬 높았다. 본 연구 결과에 따르면 남성노인이 여성노인에 비해 자녀로 부터의 지원에 취약성을 보이기 때문에 남성노인에 대한 세심한 지원과 관심이 필요하다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study is to examine how the change in the self-rated health of older adults affects the support from their children, such as frequency of meeting (emotional), financial support (economic), and hours of caregiving(instrumental), and if these changes differ by gender of older adults. For this study, we used the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aged(KLoSA), from the 1st wave in 2006 to the 4th wave in 2012, selected a total of 3102 (1252 males and 1850 females) study subjects who were 65 year-old and older in the 1st wave and who were in the survival panel through the 4th wave, and used the Latent Growth Curve Model for analysis. The results of this study indicated that the worse the self-rated health of older men at the initial point, the significantly lower the frequency of meeting at the initial point among older men; and it was significantly different by gender groups. Older adults with worse self-rated health at the initial point received significantly less financial support; no difference was found between genders. Also, the worse the self-rated health was at the initial point, the higher the hours of caregiving at the initial point; this path showed a difference by gender. In both older male and female groups, the declining rate of the self-rated health over time significantly affected the rate of increase in the hours of caregiving. However, the female group showed a much higher rate of increase in the hours of caregiving than that of males. Based on the results of this study, older males should be given thoughtful consideration and support as they are shown vulnerable in the support from their children compared to older females.
