영문 초록

This study aims to suggest practical guidelines or strategies for the improvement of Daejeon City’s weak trade structure when considers implementing an export assistance program for local SMEs. The city has been implementing a variety of overseas marketing supporting programs to promote local firms’ export, however, it has failed so far to achieve the desired outcome, due to the weakness of the customized export supporting program which has to do with duplication and redundancy. Therefore, efforts towards improving the current system, such as the introduction of a customized system for local firms and the establishment of export supporting governance to expand Daejeon’s export base, should be strengthened. Moreover, reorganization of the overseas marketing supporting program, supplementing the system’s contents and processes, expansion of support for online marketing, cultivation of SMEs as exporting firms of local manufacturers and diversification of the overseas market, should be considered. Finally, other strategies may include setting up systematic export support governance, establishment of a one-stop export assistance system, exploring close cooperation among local government, companies and universities for cultivating representative export products.
