국문 초록

본 연구는 경주시 관광객수의 정확한 추정을 위하여 기존 국내/외 관광통계의 현황과 현행 관광통계의 집계실태에 대한 문제점을 분석한 후 향후 과학적, 신뢰성이 보다 높은 지역 중심의 관광객수 집계방안에 대한 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 통해 경주시 관광분야의 수요 및 형태예측, 정책방향의 수립, 경영의사결정 등에 대한 정확한 분석자료로 활용하고자 한다. 기존 경주시 지역관광객수의 추정은 불국사 주차장이라는 특정한 조사지점에서 경북관광 협회를 통해 집계한 후, 임의적으로 25%를 가산해 왔다. 이러한 방식은 관광통계 조사기관의 전문성 확보여부, 조사지점인 불국사가 과연 표본조사지점으로서 적절한지의 여부, 25% 가산방식의 타당성, 산출된 통계자료의 신뢰성과 조사항목 등에 있어서 개선의 여지가 높았다. 향후에는 경주지역의 관광지별로 방문비율을 표본조사를 통해 추정한 후, 방문객수의 총량을 추정하는 방식을 제안하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Tourist statistics contains important sources of information for practitioners. Previous research has stated that the collection and standardization of tourist statistics should be improved. However, little research exists about how it should be accomplished. In this study, the realities of tourist statistics in and outside the country were examined. Further, how Gyeongju is collecting the data on tourist statistics is analysed. The results indicate that two methods are used to estimate tourist statistics in Gyeongju’ one is the compiled statistics of visitors reported by individual tourist destinations, the other its own tourist statistics given by Gyeongbuk Tourism Organization. In this study, the problems with the second method of tourist statistics and solutions are presented. In order to estimate more accurate number of visitors to Gyeonggi, this study suggests that the total number of visitors be estimated ofter the estimation of visitation ratio according to individual tourist destinations.
