중고령 가구의 소득원천별 가구소득이 가구소비에 미치는 영향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 중고령 가구의 소득원천별 가구소득이 가구소비에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 한국노동패널의 2009년부터 2012년까지 자료로 고정효과 모형을 추정한 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중고령 가구의 소득원천별 한계소비성향은 유의하게 다르며 사적이전소득, 공적이전소득, 근로소득 순으로 한계소비성향이 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 중고령 가구 경제에 은퇴가 미치는 영향을 고려하여 근로소득 유무에 따라 가구를 나누어 분석한 결과 은퇴여부와 관계가 없이 사적이전소득은 가구소비에 유의한 영향을 미치는 반면에 공적이전소득은 은퇴가구의 소비에만 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 소비를 품목별로 나누어 소득원천별 영향을 분석한 결과 소비품목별로 영향을 주는 소득원천의 한계소비성향 또한 다르게 나타났는데 특히 보건의료비, 주거비, 식비, 문화비 등의 지출이 사적이전소득에 유의한 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 추정결과들은 자녀의 부양의식이 과거에 비해 약해졌다고는 하나 여전히 중고령 가구에 있어서 가구소비의 사적이전소득 의존도가 높다는 사실을 설명하고 있다. 연구자들은 본 연구의 추정결과로부터 단기적으로는 부양비에 대한 세제혜택 도입과 청년층의 취업활성화 정책 확대를, 장기적으로는 공적연금의 대폭적인 확대 정책을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzes the effect of income source of the middle-aged and elderly household on consumption using the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study from 2009 to 2012. The fixed effect model is used for the analysis and the main results are as follow. First, there are significant differences of the marginal propensity to consume (MPC) by income source. The private transfer income is the highest MPC and public transfer income and labor income are followed as in order. Second, regardless of retirement status, private transfer income significantly affects household consumption while public transfer income has influence only on the consumption of the retired household. Finally, if we repeat the analysis by itemized consumption, we find that MPCs of each income source on various itemized consumptions are different. Especially, the private transfer income has a significant effect on health care, food, housing and culture expenses. Although the children's consciousness on supporting their parents has been weakened in recent years, the results of this study imply that the middle-aged and elderly household consumption still depends heavily on the private transfer income. Based on the results we propose to introduce a tax benefits for children's supporting expense for their parents and to promote youth employment in the short term, and to expand public pension by much in the long term.
