국문 초록

이 글은 오늘날 한국사회에서 뜨거운 논쟁점이 되고 있는 공정사회를 이루기 위해 한국교회가 어떠한 역할을 할 수 있는지를 논한다. 먼저 신학적으로 공정사회가 무엇이며 그것의 실현을 위한 기본 방향이 무엇인지를 밝힌다. 공정사회의 기본 성격은 하나님 나라의 본질에서 추론될 수 있다. 공정사회란 하나님 나라가 실현된 모습이기 때문이다. 공정사회는 정의로운 공동체이고, 하나님의 샬롬(평화)이 구체화 된 공동체며, 모든 사람이 하나님 형상으로 지음 받은 존재로서의 존엄성이 인정되는 공동체이고, 경제적 정의가 실현된 공동체이다. 이러한 공정사회를 이루기 위해서는 하나가 되는 공동체 정신을 함양하고, 사람이 갖는 기본권이 존중받는 사회 제도를 마련하며, 법질서를 굳건히 확립하고, 섬기고 나누는 것을 생활화하며, 사회 통합을 이루고, 경제적 정의를 실현하는 것이 요구된다. 한국교회가 공정사회를 이루기 위해 구체적인 역할을 하려면 무엇보다 먼저 사회 문제가 믿음을 실천하는 중요한 영역이라는 것을 받아들이는 것이 필요하다. 이러한 바탕 위에서 한국교회는 사회에 정의로운 공동체적 삶의 원리를 제시하고, 그러한 공동체를 이루기 위한 일에 적극 참여하며, 공정사회를 위한 제도적 장치를 마련하는 일에 힘을 기울여야 하고, 교회 스스로가 정의로운 공동체가 됨으로써 세상 사회에 본을 보이며, 나눔을 실천하는 일에 앞장서고, 공정사회를 이루기 위한 일에 비기독교인과 타종교인과도 적극 협력해야 한다.

영문 초록

This article discusses what kind of roles the Korean church plays for building up a fairer society which is an issue seriously debated now in Korean society. It first pays attention to what is a theological concept of fair society. The basic character of fair society can be analogized from the essential nature of the Kingdom of God, for God's Kingdom is a reality of fair society. Fair society can be characterized as a community of justice, a community of a concrete reality of God's shalom, and community in which human dignity as bearer of imago Dei is accepted, and community in which economic justice is actualized. Next, it examines some directions for accomplishing such a fair society. The directions are suggested as follows: fostering community spirit, working out institutional devices in which human dignity is guaranteed, solidifying legal order, practising to serve and share, integrating diverse social ranks and groups, and realizing economic justice. There follows a consideration of the concrete and practical ways by which the Korean church contributes to the establishment of a fairer society. It is first acknowledged that the social realm is crucial for practising the Christian faith. Then, the followings are argued: providing the Korean society a principal of just and communal life, positively participating in realizing such a community, endeavoring to making institutional devices for fair society, becoming itself fair community thereby pioneering it, taking the initiative in sharing, and cooperating with non-Christians. Finally, the conclusion sums up the whole discussion and suggests a further constructive study of it.
