국문 초록

최근 한국사회에서 증가하고 있는 이혼율과 이혼 사유의 다양성은 이혼에 대한 다차원적 접근을 요구한다. 특히 핵가족 체제아래에서 증가되는 부부관계 중요성과 개인주의 가치관 확산은 가정 내 차원 또한 고려한 이혼 분석을 필요로 한다. 이러한 맥락에서 경제적 요인이나 사회인구학적 특징과 같은 ‘가정 외 요인’과 가족관계 및 가치관과 같은 ‘가정 내 요인’을 개별적으로 다루어온 기존연구는 이혼에 대한 단편적인 지식을 제공할 수밖에 없다. 본 연구는 기존연구의 이러한 한계점을 지적하며, 기혼여성의 이혼태도에 ‘가정 내 요인’과 ‘가정 외 요인’이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 총체적인 경험분석을 실시하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 2011년 여성가족패널조사 자료를 이용해 기혼여성 응답자를 중심으로 분석을 실시하였다. 종속변수는 기혼여성의 이혼 태도이고, 독립변수는 부부관계, 가족관계, 전통적 가치관, 개인주의 가치관으로 구성 된 가정 내 요인과 경제상태 및 사회인구학적 요인을 포함한 가정 외 요인이다. 연구 결과에 따르면 가치관 요인을 고려하게 될 경우 기혼여성의 이혼태도에 영향을 미쳤던 연령효과와 가구소득의 통계적 유의성은 사라지고, 관계적 요인을 고려하면 남편의 학력효과가 변하는 것으로 나타나 기혼여성의 이혼태도는 가정 내 요인으로부터 더 큰 영향을 받고 있었다. 또한 전통적 가치관 보다는 개인주의 가치관이 기혼여성의 이혼태도에 더 큰 영향을 끼쳐 한국사회의 이혼은 개인주의 가치관 확산에 의한 것으로 이해됐다. 그러나 이혼에 대한 태도는 여전히 전통적 가치관과 함께 혼재된 형태로 나타나고 있었는데 특히 시댁과의 관계가 기혼여성의 이혼태도에 매우 유의한 효과를 가지고 있어, 한국 특유의 전통적인 가족문화가 여전히 존재함을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 모든 변수를 통제하였음에도 불구하고 부부관계 변수의 효과가 매우 강한 것으로 나타나, 부부생활의 갈등이나 만족이 이혼을 설명하는 중요 변수 임도 확인하였다. 이 같은 연구 결과를 통해 앞으로의 이혼 연구는 사회인구학적 특징, 가치관의 변화, 가족 및 부부관계라는 다각적 차원에서 이루어져야 하며, 이는 가정 외부 요인과 내부 요인 모두를 고려한 총체적 분석이 되어야 함을 제언한다.

영문 초록

An increase in divorce rates and the diversity of the reasons for divorce in the Korean society accentuates the emergence of a multidimensional approach for comprehensive analysis. The increase of the importance of the marital relationship and the spread of values of individualism under the family structure of industrial society require a further explanation starting from the household. However, existing researches on phenomenon of divorce have been individually focusing on the external factors and the internal factor. This provides only fragmentary understanding for divorce. In such context, this paper points out the limitations of existing research on divorce and put the purpose of carrying out the analysis of the whole experience that takes into account both external factors and internal factors of the household. An analysis is conducted on the target married women respondents with using Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families data in 2011. As the dependent variable, attitudes toward divorce of married women were considered and as the independent variable, marital relationship, family relationship, the values were considered. The results showed that when considering the factors of values, the significance of household income and age effect were eliminated, while the relationship factors, the effect of education of husband were appeared to change. That means that attitude toward divorce can be greatly influenced by internal factor rather than external factor. In addition, values of individualism had a significant impact on divorce attitude formation of married women rather than traditional values. Therefore, divorce in Korean society can be seen as a result by the diffusion of individualism. However, attitudes toward divorce were appeared when both individualism and traditional values were mixed together, especially the relationship with family of husband which has a highly significant effect on the attitude toward divorce of married women. This result confirmed the fact that the family’s traditional culture still exists. Lastly, despite controlling all variables, there was significant impact of marital relationship variables, confirming that satisfaction and conflict of married life are important to explain divorce.
