국문 초록

인간은 숲으로 상징되는 자연에서 나온 존재들이다. 거기에 삶의 원형이 있다. 숲을 뜻하는 수(樹)와 풀은 모든 생명의 근원이다. 식물들의 신비로운 광합성 노동으로 빚어내는 물질과의 신선한 연대, 즉 호흡과 영양소의 섭취로 말미암아 동물들이 존재한다. 숲과 인간의 역사는, 인류의 문명이 팽창하면 숲이 줄고 인간의 문명이 축소되면 숲이 늘어가며 그 흥망을 함께 해온다. 인간은 숲의 지배자로서 번성해왔다. 그런데, 과연 숲이 인간의 지배자인가, 인간이 숲의 재배자인가하는 인식은 인류와 인류를 포함한 많은 생명체들이 살고 있는 행성(行星)의 지속가능성과 직결된 철학적 사유의 문제가 된다. 숲은 다시 풀과 나무만 있는 공간이 아니라, 인간의 둥지로 다시 봐야 한다. 숲은 학문적 본질에서도 다양한 경계를 넘나들며 소통과 연계를 이루는 통섭의 교재이다. 이미 생태학, 식물학, 동물학, 곤충학, 토양학, 지리학, 기상학 등의 자연과학, 숲을 매개로 하는 경제학, 교육학, 관광학, 휴양학, 복지학 등의 사회과학, 그리고 숲길 응급의학이나, 치유의학, 약학 등은 물론, 녹색의 사상과 윤리, 전통역사와 문화 등의 인문학이 활발하게 교류되고 있는 공간이다. 숲은 서로가 막혀 있는 듯 트여있고, 끊겨 있는 듯 이어져 있는 관계의 본성을 잘 드러내며 생태학적 공존의 지혜를 밝혀준다. 모든 존재의 실체적 존중이라는 관계의 평등관은 숲 사상의 핵심이다. 모든 것이 숲으로 돌아가야 인류의 미래가 있다.

영문 초록

Human beings are from nature which is symbolized as a forest. Here is the archetype of life. Trees and plants, which insinuate the forest, are the springs of all life. With the combination of the mystical labor of photosynthesis and raw materials, nature makes animals exist by their intaking of nutrients and breathing. The history of the forest and human beings is interwined, as when the human civilization expans the forest decreases, and when the decrease of human civilization expanse the forest decreases. Human beings have prospered as a controller of the forest. However, are human beings the real controller of the forest? Can human beings be the true controller of the forest? Those conceptions propose a philosophical agenda of the celestial continuity of all living things, including human beings. We need to reconsider the forest as a place not only for plants and trees, but also as the place for human beings. The forest exists in a context of the communication and relationship between the various borders in the academy. Already, it has a place in the active communication within Natural sciences such as ecology, botany, zoology, entomology, geography, meteorology, as well as in the Social Sciences, such as economics, pedagogy, recreation science, social welfare, which all use the forest as a medium. Also concerned with the forest is the field of emergency medicine, healing medicine, pharmacy and Green conservation and even the moral, traditional history and culture. Study of the forest points us to the ecological coexisting wisdom which is the essence of the integral connected between all things, though at times these relationship appear blocked and disconnected but literally open and connected. The respect for existing things is based on the relationship of equality, which is the essence of the forest theory. There is a future for human beings in the forest, which is the place to which all things will eventually return.
