국문 초록

본 연구에서는 66명의 탈북자가 북한의 젊은 세대와 성인 세대의 의식구조와 현실인식을 평가하였으며, 이러한 평가에 기초하여 북한에서의 세대간 차이점과 유사점을 알아보았다. 또한, 이를 남한사회에서 수행된 기존 연구(정태연, 2001)의 결과와 비교함으로써, 세대특성의 남북한 비교를 시도하였다. 그 결과, 북한의 경우 6개의 가치지향차원, 10개의 성격특질차원 그리고 비전통적 성행동에 관한 3차원에서의 부정적 태도 등에서 상당한 세대차이가 있었다. 전반적으로 젊은 세대는 서구문화의 특성을 더 많이 지닌 반면, 성인 세대는 전통적 특성을 더 많이 가지고 있었다. 이러한 세대차이는 전반적으로 남북한간에 상당히 유사했지만, 세대차이의 크기는 남한사회에서 더 큰 경향이 있었다. 한편, 기존의 연구에서 남한사람들은 세대 상관없이 남한사회를 상당히 부정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 마찬가지로, 북한사람들도 세대 상관없이 북한사회를 6개의 현실인식차원과 정치적 통제감차원에서 상당히 부정적으로 평가하였다. 이러한 결과를 북한사회의 현실과 문화적 변동 측면에서 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The present study examined similarities and differences between generations of North Korea using 66 defects of North Korea. Also, results obtained were compared to previous findings from samples of South Korea (Jung, 2001). Results indicated that there were clear-cut differences between the two generations in North Korea on the 6 value and 10 personality trait dimensions and in the negative attitudes toward 3 types of sexual misbehavior. The youth generation is oriented toward the Western value system, whereas the adult generation makes much of the indigenous values of Korean culture. This pattern of generation gap of North Korea is much similar to that of South Korea, although this gap tends to be more severe in South Korea. However, there was quite a similarity between the generations of North Korea in the negative evaluation of the status que of North Korea, like the case of South Korea. All of these findings were discussed with respect to cultural transformation and status quo of North Korea.
