노년기 관광여행문화의 탐색

국문 초록

노년기 여가활동의 중요성과 필요성에 대한 사회적 인식은 증대되고 있지만, 이에 대한 구체적이고 심층적인 연구사례들은 아직 부족한 실정이다. 이 연구는 노후의 주요 여가활동의 하나인 노년기 관광여행을 중심으로 노인들과 자녀세대 주부들의 인식과 태도 및 그 현황을 탐색한다. 수도권에 거주하는 노인과 자녀세대 주부 20여명을 대상으로 심층면접조사를 실시한 결과, 면접대상자 대부분이 노년기 관광여행은 지나간 삶에 대한 보상적 의미를 갖는 것으로 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 노인들의 관광여행은 현실적으로 건강과 비용문제의 제약을 받지만, 노년기 이전 생활양식의 연속선상에서 이루어짐을 보여주고 있다. 한편, 노인들내에서도 관광지나 관광행태 등을 통해 사회계층적 차이를 인지하고 차별화하려는 모습들도 발견된다. 관광여행의 경비는 노인 대부분이 본인부담 의지를 보이며, 자녀의 경제적 형편을 많이 고려하는 것으로 나타난다. 관광여행 동반자는 주로 부부나 친지 등이다. 적지 않은 노인들이 성인 자녀들과의 여행을 바라기는 하지만, 서로간의 시간적인 제약으로 인해 동반여행이 힘들다는 이해가 지배적이다. 효도관광이라는 용어에 대해 노인들은 우울한 이미지를 부여하고 있는데, 이는 효도관광은 아주 연로한 노인들의 여행이라는 인식과 연결되어 있는 듯하다. 효도관광이 노부모에 대한 감사와 충분한 배려로 이루어지는 것이 아니라 특정 기념일을 대체하기 위한 이벤트성 관광여행으로 이용된다는 점 또한 적지 않게 지적되고 있다. 이러한 결과들은 앞으로 노년기 관광여행이 수적으로 증가할 뿐 아니라 그 내에서도 다양한 형태로 전개되리라는 전망을 가능하게 한다. 건전하고 바람직한 노년기 관광여행문화 정착과 더불어 비노년층에 대비한 노년층의 특성, 다양하고 세분화된 노년층내의 욕구 등을 반영할 수 있는 관광산업과 사회 복지적 접근들에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study, based on in-depth interviews with the elderly and young married women, investigates the issues surrounding leisure-tour activity in old age. The attraction of leisure-tour activity including escape from the routine daily life and self-development is wildly perceived among the elderly as well as among the young married women. The view that the elderly deserve enjoying their old age through such activity is held by both generations. While the leisure-tour activity of the elderly is constrained by their current economic condition and health status, it is done on the continuity of the life style before the old age. In addition, differences in the needs and practice of leisure-tour activity by socioeconomic status of the elderly are observed. The desire that the elderly want to travel with their adult children is expressed. However, realization of such desire is recognized difficult to achieve due to time conflict between the generations. For 'filial tour' peculiar to Korean society, the elderly appear to have gloomy image; it is for the older elderly who cannot but depend on their children. The idea of 'filial tour' is deeply appreciated by both generations, but its practice contains various meanings. It is brought out that adult children prepare 'filial tour', for their convenience rather than for considering what their elderly parents desire. It is suggested that leisure-tour activity of the elderly gain more attention for its difference from leisure-tour activity of the young and for emerging diversity within the elderly.
