마을 재앙담에 나타난 풍수사상

국문 초록

공동체의 관심사는 이야깃거리가 되기 마련이다. 마을에 다가온 재앙은 마을 공동체의 중요한 관심거리가 되고, 인구에 회자되기 마련이다. 마을 재앙담은 마을 공동체의 운명에 영향을 주는 재앙의 발생과 대응에 관한 이야기이다. 이러한 재앙에 대해 마을 공동체 구성원이 풍수적 환경변화 혹은 열악한 풍수적 환경을 마을 재앙의 원인으로 꼽는 사례가 많다. 환경의 변화로 인한 마을의 재앙 이야기가 자연의 개발 혹은 파괴로 풍수적 환경이 변화되어 재앙이 발생한 반면, 열악한 환경으로 인한 마을의 재앙 이야기는 풍수적 환경의 변화가 없는 속에서 발생한 재앙의 원인으로 마을의 풍수적 환경이 좋지 않았었다고 마을 주민들이 생각하게 된 사례담이 주를 이루게 된다. 환경의 변화로 인한 마을 재앙담은 제각기 돌산 개발, 도로 공사, 깨진 바위, 다리 건설 등 개발의 논리에 의한 환경 변화가 불행을 초래하게 된 원인으로 지목된다. 이러한 풍수적 환경변회는 명당 국세에 형성된 기의 흐름을 바꾸게 되어 대체로 나쁘게 작용하게 된다. 개발을 하는 과정에서 풍수적 환경의 변화로 인한 재앙담의 경우 재앙이 발생한 원인을 풍수에서 찾게 된다. 그러나 악의적인 환경 파괴로 인한 재앙은 풍수적 환경 변화를 염두에 두고 파괴를 저지르게 되는 것이다. 열악한 환경으로 인한 마을 재앙담은 환경의 변화로 인한 마을 재앙담 사례에 비해 재앙의 강도가 약하고 집단이기 보다는 마을 공동체 구성원들 각자에게 개별적으로 나타나는 경향이 있다. 두 사례 모두 마을 재앙의 원인을 풍수에서 찾고 있다. 보통의 풍수담은 개인의 발복에 관심을 갖기 마련이나 마을 재앙담에서의 풍수지리설은 개인의 발복 보다는 집단의 안위에 관심을 두게 된다. 마을 공동체의 구성원들이 직면한 재앙을 극복하는 방편으로 풍수지리설이 활용되는 것이다. 마을 재앙담에서는 공동체 앞에 당면한 문제 상황을 해결하고 행복한 현실을 만틀어가고자 하는 집단의 소망이 담기게 된다. 이처럼 마을 공동체에게 있어 풍수는 마을 재앙의 원인이 되기도 하지만 마을의 재앙을 극복할 수 있도록 해주는 역할도 한다.

영문 초록

In general. the concerns of a village community are usually talked about extensively. A disaster. for example, within a village community becomes an important issue which focuses the concerns of the said community. Therefore, it becomes the central talking point of a particular community affected by a disaster. A folktale, regarding a village disaster, is usually about the events surrounding the said disaster which affectedthe destiny of the community and the countermeasures implemented to cope with it. Regarding these kinds of disasters, whether they are personal or community based, the members of a village community usually point out that most causes are due to topographic changes or poor topographic surroundings. Whereas avillage disaster folktale due to an environmental change usually attributes its disastrous result to an exploitation or destruction of the regionally changing topographic environment. in a village disaster folktale due to poor topographic surroundings, on the other hand, villagers usually charge an originally poor regional topography with the disastrous outcome. In a village disaster folktale, due to an environmental change, the reason for such a misfortune is frequently attributed to economic-related interests such as the development of a quarry, road-works, breaking upa rock surface. a bridge construction and so on. These kinds of developments have negative influences which affect the energy flows formed at a propitious site. A disaster folktale. due to a topographic change, related to a development process demonstrates a Fengshuijiri change; a theory regarding a divination based on topography. However, a disaster caused by an ill-intentioned environmental destruction is committed by someone with the topographic change in mind. In comparison to this. a disaster folktale with a reference to poor topographic surroundings has a tendency in that the degree of the disaster is comparativelyless or the said disaster affects the members of a communityindividually rather than the community as a whole. Never-the-less. in both cases these types of disasters. regarding a community, are revealed by the Fengshuijiri changes. While most Fenshujiri folktales focus on anindividuals' fortune. those regarding a village disaster focus more on the security aspects of a community than anindividuals' fortune. Therefore. the Fengshuijiri theory is usually applied to overcome a disaster which community members are facing. It shows the community members' desire that they get over the facing difficulties and live a happy life. As a result. the Fengshuijiri theory can reveal the cause of a disaster and lead the community members to select and implement the appropriate countermeasures to overcome the said disaster at the same time.
