<소현성록>의 공간 구성과 역사 인식

국문 초록

본고는 기존 논의에서 소홀히 다루어진 시공간적 배경을 고찰하여, <소현성록>에 대한 이해를 풍부하게 하는 데 목적을 두었다. <소현성록>의 공간적 배경은 소부의 입지, 소부 내의 공간, 인물들의 동선으로 나누어 살폈다. 도성과 40리 떨어져 있는 소부의 입지는 도성으로 상징되는 세속, 현실, 권력 등을 지향하면서도 비판적인 거리를 두려는 이중적 태도를 공간적으로 표현한 것이다. 소부 내의 공간에서는 양부인의 절대적 권위가 聚星殿이라는 건축물로 구체화되며, 작품이 추구하는 윤리적 기준의 강화는 가내의 공간 분할(외당, 중당, 내당)과 결부하여 형상화 되었다. 인물들의 동선을 통해 볼 때 작품은 북송의 강역을 중복 없이 고르게 이용하였으며, 거란과 대치하는 당시의 정세를 반영하고 있었다. <소현성록>의 시대적 배경은 곧 역사이므로, 작품에 나타난 역사 사실들을 점검하였다. 역사 사실들이 단편적으로 언급되고 있음에도 불구하고, 작자는 북송대 역사에 대해 해박할 뿐 아니라, <양가장연의>나 <북송지전> 등의 소설도 숙지하고 있었다. <소현성록>은 역사 사실 제시를 통해 역사와 작품을 긴밀하게 결합시키고 주인공들을 역사적 사건 속으로 투입하는 것이 아니라 역사로부터 주인공들을 철수시킨다. 이것은 도성과 거리 두기와 마찬가지로 역사와 거리 두기이다. <소현성록>이 거리 두기를 고집하는 이유는 작품이 추구하는 소현성의 도덕성이 도성과 역사로 표상되는 혼탁하고 치열한 현실에서 관철되기 어렵기 때문이다. 작자는 소현성의 도덕성이 빛을 발하는 적절한 범위를 찾아 작품의 영역을 자운산 소부로 축소시켰다. 또한 거리 두기는 동시대에 향유되던 소섣들을 의식하고 독자적 노선을 모색한 결과라는 점에서 작품의 차별화 전략이기도 하다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the time and space backgrounds of Sohyeonseong-rok. It examines the spatial background of Sohyeonseongrok on the sides of the location of So's house. its internal space. and the characters' action traces. The location of So's house. 40 ri distant from the capitol city, spatially expresses the dual attitude to intend to the mundaneness. the reality, and the power. all of which are symbolized by the capitol city, while keeping some distance from it. In the space of So's house. Mrs. Yang's authority is concretized by 'Chwiseongjeon.' meaning a building where stars have got together. and the strengthening of the ethic standard that the novel pursues is shaped being associated with the spatial division of the house (the external building, the middle building, and the internal building). Considering the characters' action traces. the novel uses the territory of North Song evenly without overlapping, which reflects the situation at that time when North Song confronts Georan. As the time background of Soheyonseongrokis just a part of history, we check the historical facts appearing in the novel. Though the historical facts are mentioned in fragments. we can find out that the author not only has deep knowledge of the history of North Song, but also is fully aware of Yanggajangyeoneui and Buksongjijeon. Sohyeonseongrokdoes not try to connect itself closely to the history through presenting historical facts and put the main characters into historical events. but tends to dismiss them from the history. This means the intention to keep some distance from the history similar to the intention to keep some distance from the capitol city. The reason why Sohyeonseongrok keeps trying to put distance is that it is difficult to accomplish in reality the morality of Sohyeonseong, which the novel pursues. The writer, trying to seek an appropriate extent to which Sohyeonseong's morality plays its role, reduces the domain of the novel to So's house in the Jaun Mountain. Also, distancing is a strategy for differentiating the novel to the effect that it is a result from the search for its own line in having a sense of rivalry for those novels enjoyed in the same times.
