부부관계(사랑과 성)가 노년기 삶의 질에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

노년기 삶의 질은 개인적 특성과 부부관계, 가족관계 등이 중요한 변인으로 밝혀져 왔으나, 이를 포괄적적으로 살펴본 연구가 부족했다. 본 연구에서는 배우자가 있는 노인 163명을 대상으로 1차적으로는 노인의 개인적 특성, 부부관계, 가족관계가 노년기 삶의 질에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 분석하고, 만일 노년기 부부관계가 삶의 질에서 중요한 변인으로 파악되면, 다음으로 부부간의 사랑과 성에 따라 부부관계를 유형화하고, 이러한 부부관계의 유형에 따른 노인들의 삶의 질 차이를 살펴보고자 하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 노인들의 개인특성 변인, 부부관계 변인, 가족관계 변인 중 부부관계 변수가 노년기 생활만족도를 가장 잘 예측하는 변수로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 배우자와의 사랑과 성적인 관계를 대변하는 낭만적 열정, 책임감, 성에 대한 태도에 따라 노년기 부부관계의 유형화를 시도한 결과, 욕구 절제형, 긍정적 개방형, 애정 요구형, 폐쇄적 무심형의 4개 유형이 확인되었고, 각 유형에 따라 성별, 학력, 가정소득, 신체적 건강, 생활만족에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 부부관계유형에 따라 생활만족도에 차이가 나타나, 부부간 낭만적 열정, 책임감 점수가 제일 높고, 노년기 성에 대한 태도도 긍정적인 긍정적 개방형의 생활만족도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 따라서 노년기 삶의 질에 부부관계가 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤으며 또한 부부관계 유형 중 긍정적 개방형의 생활만족감이 가장 높다는 본 연구의 결과는 노년기 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위해서는 무엇보다 부부간의 사랑과 성태도를 개선시키는 노력이 주요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Life satisfaction is a very important factor to measure elderly person's general psychological well-being and quality of life. This study investigated the major determinants of life satisfaction among the elderly and examined the effects of marital relationship on quality of life in old age through comparing the differences in the level of the quality of life and explored some relationships individual characteristics, marital relations and family relations variables. If the marital relationship proved important variable influencing on their quality of life in later life, then couples relations will typify according to sex and love and examined difference on life satisfaction of the elderly persons according to the type of marital relations. In all, one-hundred-eighty elderly persons in the community were interviewed and one-hundred-sixty-three persons were analyzed. The major findings were obtained in this study as following. First, the most influencing variable on their life satisfaction was marital relationships. Second, trying to typify couples relations according to romantic passions, responsibility and attitudes toward sexuality representative of love and sexual relations between aged couples and the result, classified four types ; 'desire continence type', 'positive open type', 'affection demand type', 'closed indifference type' and statistically significant difference showed in the respondents' sex, education levels, domestic incomes physical health and life satisfaction according to each type. Third, There is a difference on life satisfaction of the elderly persons according to the type of marital relations. The result, the life satisfaction of 'positive open type' was highest. Finally, implications were discussed for elevating marital relationship of old age to the community resident elderly persons for improvement of their quality of life.
