이야기 전승에 나타난 텍스트화의 양상

국문 초록

이야기 전승에 참가하는 담화 주체는 크게 이야기 밖에 있는 주체와 이야기 안에 존재하는 주체로 구별할 수 있다. 이 글은 이야기 밖에 존재하는 주체 즉, 이야기 전승의 주체가 이야기를 어떤 방식으로 텍스트화하는지를 논의하는 것이 목적이다. 이런 방식은 텍스트나 컨텍스트를 정적인 대상이 아닌 동적으로 만들어지는 과정에 있는 것으로 파악하는 것이다. 따라서 구연 설화의 구연자나 문헌 설화의 편집자가 어떤 방식으로 텍스트 의미 산출에 기여하는지를 텍스트화ㆍ컨텍스트화의 차원에서 살펴 볼 수 있게 된다. 구연 설화의 경우에는 이야기를 연행하는 구연자의 세계관과 이야기 내용이 불일치 하는 경우가 발생한다. 구연자가 해당 이야기에서 매우 중요한 역할을 하는 인물에 대해 편파적인 인식을 지니고 있음이 구체적인 발화에 나타나기 때문이다. <女智설화>의 경우 구연자 개인의 性的 컨텍스트가 텍스트화에 영향을 미쳐, 문제를 해결하는 여인의 비중에 비해 구연 상황에서의 여성에 대한 취급은 매우 우연적이며 일회적인 것으로 나타난다. 설화 구연자는창작 주체가 아니라 전승의 주체이기에 이야기의 텍스트화를 자신의의도대로 완벽하게 수행하지않는다. 그러므로전해 내려오는이야기를 전달하는 입장에서 해당 이야기의 본래적 의미와는 무관하거나 오히려 정반대로 텍스트화가 발생할 수 있는 것이다. 문헌 설화의 경우에는 창작의 주체는 아니지만 현장이라는 제약에서 벗어난 전승 주체가 자신의 의도대로 설화를 ‘편집’할 가능성이 열린다. 따라서 문헌 설화의 텍스트화는 구연 설화에서처럼‘실수’로 여겨질 수 있는 상황이 진행되지 않는다. 오히려 문헌설화의 텍스트화는 텍스트화 자체의 문제점을 의도적으로 노출하면서 고도로 고안된 별다른 의미를 내포하는 것으로 보인다. 일군의 이야기들이 각각의 편목으로 재배치되어 만들어진 『삼국유사』가 좋은 예가 될 수 있다. 『삼국유사』 <피은>편의 경우 해당 편목에 어울리지 않는 이야기가 의도적으로 배치됨으로써 편찬자의 의도가 더욱 강하게 드러날 수 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

The participants, who play significant roles concerned with entextualization of the Folk-Tale, can be classified into two categories, internal ones and external ones. The aimof this essay is mainly focused on theway bywhich the external participant, that is the oral deliverer, can entextualize the discourse. This method basically assumes that the text is under the unfixed process, not fixed one. Therefore, this essay will allow us to comprehend how an oral folk tale performer and an editor can contribute to yielding a text through the aspect of entextualization and contextualization of the Folk-Tale. In the case of oral folk tale, sometimes there is inconsistency between the performer's points of view and its contents. That is why the oral performer reveals that he or she has prejudice against the main characters in the story. Oral performer fails to do its duties since his or her main role is not to create but to deliver the text. For this reason, there is some possibility that the text can be distorted far away from the original meaning or into the opposite meaning. In the case of written folk tale, even though the editor doesn't create a wholly new text, he or she, who is free from the field performance, has strong possibility to 'edit' the folk tale according to his or her own tastes. Therefore, in the entextualization of written folk tale, making a 'mistake' can't happen, unlike in the case of entextualization of oral folk tale. Furthermore, the entextualization of written folk tale intentionally reveals its own flaws concerned with its entextualization process to signify additional sense. In the case of Sam-kuk-yu-sa, which arranged stories according to its own sub-categories, without much difficulty, the intention of the editor can obviously be shown through some intentional disposition of some works, which can be looked upon as irrelevant ones.
