영문 초록

This research is designated to understand the history of ancient Korean education. What elements are found in a structure of intellectual history of Silla, and discuss it's historical characteristics of by each era. Shamanism, Seondo, Hwarangdo, Buddhism, and Confucianism are taking big part of the theoretical background of intellectual history of Silla. The research objective is history of intellectuals in the sixth to ninth century. The research excepted before the fifth century which was based on the intellectual of the shamanism. In the sixth century, rising of Hwarangdo dominated native culture. Also, the introduction of Buddhism gave variety of contents and forms to intellectual history of Silla. In the seventh century, intellectual of Silla started to develop intellectual capacity from the both intranational and international cultural exchange. In addition, Confucian appeared and began to act in the intellectual scene. In the eighth century, Confucian culture was getting depended upon the Tang dynasty, when the brilliant Buddhist culture was developed by the first appeared intellectuals in technical field. In the ninth century, collapse of centralized political system and import of the Zen Buddhism brought the era of local culture. The characteristics of intellectual history of Silla could be summarized in three words: communication, conciliation, and creation. Silla could avoid ancient society's self centrism by its communicational and conciliation abilities that based on openness and receptiveness. These ability were developed into ability to create own culture that fit into the Silla's society.
