영문 초록

The paper investigates empirically the determinants of collective standards at the industry level. The independent variables are technological opportunity, factor intensity, market structure, export ratio, import ratio, and networks. We estimate the Logistic regression model, using the pooling data for 9 Korean industries over 2006-2009. The empirical findings show that technological opportunity and networks have a positive effect on the number of collective standards, respectively, in Korea. However, capital intensity, market structure, export ratio, and impoπ ratio have not any relationship with the number of collective standards. Therefore, policy makers should induce the connection between standards and technology, foster standardization of network industries such as electronics, machinery, and automobiles. Especially, since standardization plays an important role in international market, the connection between collective standards and exports should be enhanced.
