국문 초록

아폴론 그리고리예프는 그의 "유기비평"이 가장 체계적이고 성공적인 문학적 업적임에도 불구하고 생전에는 크게 주목받지 못한 비평가이다. 그는 자신의 비평을 "유기적"이라 불렀는데, 그것은 예술이 역사적 발전에 있어서 사회적이고 국민적인 삶의 유기적 기능을 담당한다는 사실을 함축하려는 시도의 일환이었다. 세 단계로 구분되는 문학 비평가로서의 시기 중에서 마지막 8년(1856-1864)의 기간은 유기적 비평과 직결되는 까닭에 특히 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 유기비평 이론은 예술과 비평 사이에 유기적 연결이 있다는 사실을 주목하는 것으로, 그리고리예프는 문학비평이 예술 그 자체처럼 유기적이 되어야 한다고 선언한다. 예술은 '가슴의 아이디어'를 드러내고 '머리의 아이디어'와는 싸워야 한다는 것이다. 이것은 셸링의 관념론에 토대를 둔 것으로 예술과 비평 모두에서 직관적 통찰의 역할을 강조하는 것이다. 그리고리예프는 비평가란 분석하고 판단하는 능력이 창조력을 능가하는 예술가라는 언급으로 비평과 진정한 비평가의 역할을 정의한다. 셸링 철학에의 경도는 모든 실체는 거대한 유기적 구조물로서 의식의 정련된 형태를 향한 갈구라는 생각에 있는 것으로, 인간은 이런 과정의 정점에 위치하고 예술은 그것의 저장소라는 사고에 기인한다. 이런 관점에서 그리고리예프는 러시아 문학 연간 개괄 및 이론적 에세이들을 통해 유기비평을 정립하는데, <예술의 진실과 진지성에 대하여>, <현대 예술 비평의 토대, 중요성 및 기법에 대한 비평적 관점>, <유기비평의 법칙과 조건에 대한 소고>, <유기비평의 패러독스>는 큰 비중을 차지한다.

영문 초록

Apollon Grigor'ev has remained one of the few unsuccessful literary figures in his life time, despite his organic criticism is one of the most systematic and accomplished achievements. He called his criticism "organic", implying that it took art to be an organic function of social and national life in its historical development. His life as a literary critic can be divided into three periods. The first period(1822-46) represents his formation of talent as a literary critic by the influence of both the German philosopher Schelling and Russian civic critic Belinskii. The second(1847-55) is the period of historical criticism. In the history of Grigor'ev's literary career, the last eight years(1856-1864) are the most important because during these years he developed his organic approach. Organic theory explains that there is an organic link between art and criticism. Thus, Grigor'ev declares that literary criticism strives to be as organic as art itself. Art should lay bare 'the heart's idea' and combat 'the head's idea'. This was an idealistic theory with its roots in Schelling, and it ascribed to intuition the decisive role both in art and in criticism. About criticism and the role of the true critic, Grigor'ev insists that a critic is an artist in whom the analyzing, judging force outweighs the creative force. The appeal of Schelling's philosophy lay in the notion that all reality is a single gigantic organism, striving for evermore refined forms of consciousness. Man is the culmination of this process, and art is its repository. The artist exemplifies the very highest form of consciousness and demonstrates it in the act of artistic creation, although the creative act is always in part an unconscious one, participating in the inchoate matter common to all nature. Grigor'ev, who considered that the critic is himself an artist, or at least part an artist, stressed the immediacy or direct apprehension involved in art. The ramifications of this theory had enormous appeal in Russia and found one of its finest expression in the poetry of F. Tiuchev. For Grigor'ev it contained at least three crucial doctrines: the vital significance of art, the interrelationship of all phenomena, and the importance of the national heritage as expressed in that art.
