제주도 실경공연 가능성 연구

국문 초록

축제는 국가ㆍ도시의 역사와 문화적 역량을 가늠할 수 있는 척도이다. 오랜 역사와 전통을 토대로 축적된 문화적 가치가 압축적이고 구체적인 행위로 표현되기 때문이다. 중국의 인상유삼저 공연은 최적의 자연조건을 활용한 야외 공연장과 튀어난 연출력, 그리고 전문예술가와 지역주민의 협력을 통해 뛰어난 예술적 성과를 확보하고 있다. 우리나라에서 이와 같은 성과를 거둘 수 있는 곳은 제주지역이다. 제주만이 보유하고 있는 환경, 전설, 인력 때문이다. 자연관광은 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 지정 될 만큼 뛰어나고 수많은 전설이 분포하고 있어 전설의 섬으로 불리며, 민속축제의 공연 능력을 지닌 지역민들이 있다. 제주 지역축제의 국제화란 축제가 외국에 널리 알려지고, 수준도 높아서 그 축제에 참가하거나 관람하기 위하여 많은 외국인들이 찾아오는 경우를 말한다. 이러한 지역축제의 국제화를 위해서는 다음과 같은 요소가 필요하다. 첫째, 가장 중요한 것은 창의적인 아이디어가 접목된 공연를 개발해야 한다는 것이다. 중국의“인상씨리즈”는 독특한 공연 요소를 지니고 있으며, 이것이 대중매체에 의한 홍보로 국제적으로 알려지게 되었다, 그 결과 “인상씨리즈”는 많은 외국인 관광객들을 유치하여 경제적, 문화적인 효과를 고양시켜, 조그만 마을을 국제적인 관광명소로 만들었다. 둘째, 축제의 장르가 영화ㆍ음악ㆍ미술ㆍ연극 등 어느 분야이든지 그 분야에서 높은 수준의 질을 유지해야만 국제적 축제로 성장할 수 있다. 셋째, 축제 공연을 통한 진정한 지역의 활성화를 이루기 위해서 가장 중요한 것은 지역주민의 참여가 얼마나 이루어지는가 하는 것이다. 이를 위해서는 지역주민의 관심을 유도하기 위한 교육이나 대중매체에 의한 홍보 등이 매우 중요하다. 지역 주민의 통합을 이루어 독특한 지역이미지를 형성하고, 이를 통하여 지역 외 주민을 유치하고 나아가 국외의 관광객을 유치한다면 결과적으로 지역뿐 아니라 국가적인 관광자원으로 거듭날 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

A festival is a standard by which a history and a cultural ability of the nation and the city can be measured. Because cultural value that is built up with a history of long time and tradition is expressed as a compressed and concrete act. That performance secures a high artistic achievement for “Impression Liu Sanjie” of China through the cooperation of the outdoors performance hall, the excellent production power that uses the best, natural condition, and a special artist and the local populace. The place where such a result can be obtained in our country is Jeju region. It is because of the environment, the legend, and the human resources that only Jeju island has. Jeju island has the nature-views which are excellent enough to be selected as the UNESCO world cultural heritage. Jeju is also called the island of the legend, because many legends are spread throughout the whole region, and has the local people who can carry out their own cultural festival and performances. The internationalizion of local festival in Jeju means getting to be known to abroad and bringing many foreigners who want to see and participate in it. The following elements are necessary to internationalize this local festival. The most important point is to develop performances with creative ideas. “Impression Liu Sanjie” of China has a peculiar element, and this was spread internationally by commercials of mass media. As a result, it has brought in many foreigners and this enhanced the economic and cultural advantages which ended up turning the small town into the international tourist attraction. Secondly, a festival can be grown into an international one when the genre of it maintains the quality of a high level in any field such as movies, music, and arts. Thirdly, the active participation of local people is also very important to promote invigoration of tourism in Jeju. Special education for these residents and commercials through mass media should be followed up, in order to get their attention. Jeju will turn into a great national tour resource with no doubt, only if it successfully combines local people, create an unique local image and bring foreign tourists.
