한국 평생교육학의 학위논문 동향분석

국문 초록

2000년 평생교육법 제정에 이르기까지 우리나라 평생교육학은 사회교육, 성인교육 등 다양한 용어로 평생교육과 관련한 학위논문이 발표되고 있다. 본 연구는 학위논문의 연구동향을 분석해 봄으로써 평생교육학의 연구변동을 파악하여 향후 전략적 연구방향을 제시하고 평생교육의 학문적 요구와 평생교육 분야의 발전적 정보를 제공하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 분석대상은 2011년 12월까지 국회도서관에 등록된 평생교육 관련 2,216편의 학위논문으로 하여 연구주제, 연구대상, 연구방법, 연구목적을 분석하였다. 평생교육분야의 학위논문의 동향과 흐름을 살펴본 결과 우리나라의 평생교육학 연구는 짧은 기간에 독립된 학문분야로서의 위상을 굳히고 있는 단계임을 확인 할 수 있었다. 2000년 이후 학위논문은 1970년부터 1999년까지(35.9%) 30년 동안 연구된 논문보다 2000년-2009년(49.7%)까지 10년에 걸친 논문의 더 많은 것은 평생교육의 발전적 형태를 보이고 있다. 또한 논문의 연구 주제로서 ‘프로그램 개발 및 평가’와 ‘프로그램 만족도 및 활성화’ 분야에서 많은 연구논문은 우리나라의 평생교육이 이론적 연구만이 아니라, 현장에서의 실천에 관한 발전이 이루어지고 있음 보여주고 있다. 평생교육연구가 학문과 실천의 전 분야에 걸쳐 광범위하게 실시되고 있는 것으로 평가할 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

Since the enactment of Lifelong Education Act in 2000, Lifelong Education in Korea was called in various terms, such as community education and adult education. Under this circumstance, lifelong learning and related theses were presented. The purposes of this study are 1)to identify future policy directions for research by analyzing studies of Lifelong Education trends and 2)to provide information to develop academic needs of lifelong learning and continuing education. 2,216 lifelong Education related dissertations were analyzed which were registered in the Library of Congress in December 2011. Research topics, target population, research methods, and research purposes were analyzed. A result of current study shows that the field of Lifelong Education research in Korea is in the process of solidifying its status as the independent discipline within a relatively short time. Compare with the theses published from 1970 to 1999 (35.9%), more research papers were published between 2000 and 2009 (49.7%). This can be considered that over the last 10 years, more academic progress has been made. A research topic has been expanded from more ‘Program development and evaluation’ to ‘program satisfaction and utilization.’ This can be interpreted as the research areas of Korea’s lifelong education are being broaden to the field of actual practice related researches from the field of theoretical ones. This can also be evaluated that the lifelong education and research is being conducted extensively across all areas of study and practice.
