문해교육 리더의 성장과정

국문 초록

이 연구는 문해교육 리더들이 문해교육 현장에서 자생적으로 성장하며, 교육적인 역할을 수행하고 있음에도 불구하고, 평생교육관점에서 이들이 어떤 위치에서 무엇을 하는지, 어떻게 성장하였는지에 대한 논의가 제대로 이루어지지 못했다는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 이에 본 연구는 문해교육 리더의 일과 성장, 개인 및 조직 발전에 영향을 미친 요인들을 파악함으로써 문해교육 환경에서 성인교육자로서의 성장 가능성과 실천적 시사점을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 질적 사례연구방법을 적용하여 문해교육 거점기관에서 10년 이상 문해교육 경력을 가진 문해교육 리더 9명을 대상으로 심층면담 하였다. 그 결과, 문해교육 리더들은 성인교육자역할 논의에 비하여 확장된 네트워커로서의 비중이 크게 나타났다. 또한 그들의 성장에는 정책환경 변화의 영향요인이 컸으며, 자기주도적, 학습지향적 성장과정이 누적되는 양상을 보였다. 이러한 결과가 평생교육에 주는 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문해교육 전문가를 육성하기 위한 계속교육 지원 시스템이 도입될 필요가 있으며, 둘째, 문해교육자 역할별/영역별 프로그램을 계열화하여 제공해야 한다. 마지막으로 문해교육의 전문가 양성을 위한 공적 책무성을 강화해야 한다는 것으로 요약된다.

영문 초록

There has hardly ever been properly discussed about their position and development process at a viewpoint of lifelong education in spite of the fact that adult literacy educators grew up spontaneously performed various educational roles in the literacy education field. This study aims to explore the career development process of adult literacy educators by conducting a case study of nine leaders. They have been engaged in the adult literacy education more than 10 years and they are in charge of the local network funded by the government. For the analysis, in-depth interviews of the leaders as well as through examination of the related documents were conducted. The results of the study show three phases in the career development process of adult literacy educators: Firstly, they had been focused on the teaching activities at the classroom as a voluntary educator. Secondly, the main issue has changed into managing their own NGO as the representatives. Thirdly, they have done the key players of the local and national networks. Altogether, these results suggest that the improvement of the career development process requires the systematic supports by the government for the continuing education program of the adult literacy educators.
