조선시대 한글편지 서체자전의 편찬방법에 대한 연구

국문 초록

한⋅중⋅대⋅일 4국에서 발행한 한자 및 한글 서체자전 16종을 종합 비교 분석하여 바람직한 ‘조선시대 한글편지 서체자전’에 대한 편찬방안을 연구한 논문이다. 본 논문에서는 조선시대 한글편지의 서체를 字典의 형식으로 편찬하기 위해 편지 글씨에 대한 행별 書體圖-어절별 서체도-음절별 서체도-음소별 서체도를 작성하여 구체적인 편찬방안을 제시하였다. 한글편지 서체자전에서 字典이란 사전적 의미는 辭典이란 뜻이 다소 포함되어 있어 혼돈을 가져온다. 따라서 사전과 자전의 의미 구분을 확실하게 해야 하고, 자전 편찬의 방향 내지 목표를 분명하게 정하여 편찬 작업에 임하여야 한다고 본다. 字典이란 의미는 '한자의 글자 하나하나에 대하여 그 소리를 달고 뜻을 풀어 일정한 차례로 모아 놓은 책. 옥편이라고 사전 풀이로 밝혔다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 문자의 서체에 대한 자전적 문헌을 편찬하고자 하는데 목적을 두기 때문에 자전이란 제목이 들어가는 ’한글편지 서체자전’ 이란 책을 편찬하는 방법을 연구하게 되었다. 따라서 Ⅱ장에서 사전 및 자전의 기본 이론을 탐색하여 보았고, Ⅲ장에서 한•중•대•일 4국의 한글 및 한자 자전의 편집체제와 형식을 분석하였으며, Ⅳ에서 한글편지 서체자전의 편집방안을 요약하여 제안하여 보았다. 1. 자전의 개념 정립과 한글서체자전의 명칭제정자전의 정확한 개념을 이론적 고찰을 통하거나 기존 서체관련 자전 37종의 사례를 분석하여 명확히 파악하였고, 이에 따라 서체에 관한 사전은 辭典이 아닌 字典으로 명칭을 붙여야 한다는 것을 확고히 정하였다. 따라서 이번에 편찬하여 할 자전의 제호는 '조선시대 한글편지 서체자전' 으로 정할 것을 제언하고자 한다. 2. 국내 기존 한글 및 한자서체 자전 분석 결과 국내에서 활용하고 있는 한국-중국-대만-일본에서 발행한 한글 및 한자 서체자전 16종을 심층 분석한 결과 편집체제와 내용의 개략적 특징이 다음과 같이 파악되었다. 자전은 상-하권, 또는 단권으로 편찬하되 분량은 적어도 600여쪽, 많게는 3000여쪽이 되는 등 일반저서와 달리 분량의 체제적 특징이 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 자전의 제목별 전체 편집순서는 대체로 ‘표지-서문-범례-해설(논문)-본문문자-색인-판권’ 이지만 자전마다 순서가 서로 다르고, 이 보다 많은 내용을 넣거나 아주 줄여서 나타내는 등 갖가지 양상을 보여준다. 한글 서체자전 종류에는 본문서체 내용과 제목이 적합하게 부합되지 않는 것이 분석되기도 했다. 3. 조선시대 한글편지 서체자전 편찬방안 제시 한글편지 서체자전은 상-하 두 권으로 편찬하되 1.편지 전문 및 행별 부분, 2.편지 어절별 부분, 3. 편지 음절별 부분, 4. 편지 음소별 부분, 그리고 부록 자료부분 등 5개 분야 내용이 순서대로 포함되게 한다. 한글편지의 새로운 서체자전 작성용 형식을 행별(문장원문, 행별부분)-어절별(2자 연결문자, 3자 연결문자 )-음절별(초중성합자, 초중종성합자)-음소별(자음, 모음자) 순서의 書體圖로 나누어 작성한다. 이상과 같이 기존의 한글 및 한자 서체자전 37종을 수집하여 자전편찬에 참고가될 만 한 16종의 자전을 선택하여 심층 분석 한 다음에 새로운 한글편지 서체자전 편찬방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines a method for publishing a desirable character dictionary of handwritten Korean used in letters in Joseon period by comparing and analyzing sixteen character dictionaries of handwritten Korean and Chinese published in Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. This study suggests a specific method to publish handwritten Korean characters used in letters into character dictionaries by presenting pictures of handwriting according to lines, spacing, syllables and phonemes. The word 'character dictionary' causes confusion because it somewhat includes the meaning of the word 'dictionary.' It is required to clearly distinguish these two words and to set a clear goal for publishing. According to a dictionary definition, 'character dictionary' is a book with pronunciation and meaning of each character based on a certain order, or a dictionary of Chinese characters. Because this thesis aims to publish a character-based literature related to handwritten letters, a means for publishing a character dictionary of handwritten Korean used in letters becomes the research topic. Therefore, chapter II seeks basic theories for dictionaries and character dictionaries, chapter III analyzes publishing system and form for Korean and Chinese character dictionaries complied in Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan, and chapter IV suggests and summarizes a method for publishing a character dictionary of handwritten Korean used in letters. 1. Concept of the character dictionary and naming that of Korean After the exact concept of the character dictionary is fully understood through reviewing theoretical materials and analyzing 37 existing character dictionaries related to handwriting, it is firmly determined to name the dictionary as a 'character dictionary,' not a dictionary. 'The character dictionary of handwritten Korean used in letters in Joseon period' is suggested for the title of this character dictionary to be published this time. 2. Results of analyses on existing character dictionaries for handwritten Korean and Chinese The following is publishing system and characteristics of contents in sixteen character dictionaries of handwritten Korean and Chinese which are used in Korea and published in Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. It is analyzed that character dictionaries are of large quantity in contents, which makes the dictionary either with two or one volume and they amount to from 600 pages at least to even as many as 3000 pages. A table of contents in character dictionaries generally shows an order of 'cover - preface - introductory remarks - explanation (thesis) - body, the characters - index - publication right' but it varies among character dictionaries. They can be expanded or reduced. One of Korean character dictionaries indicates inappropriateness between the contents of handwritten letters and its title. 3. Suggesting a method for publishing the character dictionary of handwritten Korean used in letters in Joseon period The character dictionary of handwritten Korea used in letters is to be published into two volumes, including (i) the full text of letters and the part for their separate lines, (ii) the part for spacing in letters, (iii) the part for syllables in letters, (iv) the part for phonemes, and (v) an appendix part in order. It is desirable to separately present pictures of handwriting according to the order of lines (the original of writing, part for lines) - spacing (two-letter connection characters, three-letter connection characters) - syllables (letters combined with initial, medial consonants, letters combined with initial, medial and final consonants) - phonemes (consonants, vowels). This study suggests a new method for publishing the character dictionary of handwritten Korean used in letters by collecting 37 existing character dictionaries of handwritten Korean and Chinese, selecting significant ones and doing an in-depth analysis on them.
