교직이수 학생들의 진로결정에 대한 인식 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 사범계열 및 비사범계열을 통해 교직을 이수하고 있는 대학생들의 진로유형을 알아보고 그들의 진로유형에 영향을 주는 요인과 진로준비과정에서 직면하는 어려움을 분석하여 교직이수 학생들의 진로결정에 대한 인식을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구목적을 수행하기 위해, 117명의 4학년 교직이수자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시했으며, 이 중 11명을 대상으로 면접조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과, 전체 응답자의 58.1%가 교직분야로 진로를 결정한 상태였으며, 교직분야로 진로를 결정한 학생들의 66%가 중ㆍ고등학교 때 이미 자신의 진로를 결정했지만, 비교직분야로 진로를 결정한 학생들의 86.7%는 3~4학년 때 진로를 결정하였다. 교직이수자들의 진로유형에 영향을 주는 변수를 분석한 결과, 교직이수계열에 상관없이 개인적 요인보다 교육적 요인, 특히 교육활동 경험이 가장 큰 영향을 주고 있었다. 마지막으로 교직이수자들이 진로준비 과정에서 직면한 어려움을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 교직분야로 진로를 결정한 학생들은 교과지도의 경험 부족, 정보부족, 임용고시 준비를 학원에 의존해야 하는 어려움 등을 호소했으며, 비교직분야로 진로를 결정한 학생들은 자기탐색의 부족으로 인해 취업분야를 결정하는 데 어려움을 느끼는 것으로 나타났고 사범계열 출신에 대한 기업체의 편견에 직면하여 진로결정에 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 교직이수 학생들의 진로결정과 진로지도를 위한 기초자료로 제공될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Although many students take a university course to become secondary school teachers, only a few of them became a secondary school teacher. Students care about their careers. With this in mind, the purpose of this study was to investigate the career choices made by student teachers, the determinant reasons for these choices, and the difficulty student teachers faced in their preparations for a career. In total, 117 students were surveyed, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with eleven student teachers. The major findings were as follows: 58.1% of respondents chose to enter teaching as a career and 66% of them had already made this choice when they were in secondary school. In contrast, 86.7% of respondents made their career decision when they were a senior at university. Regardless of their department, educational experience affected their career choice affirmatively, and the situation of employment affected their career types negatively. Regardless of career type, respondents faced difficulties in preparing for their careers. Students who chose to become a teacher had almost no experience in teaching their major subject, a lack of information, and were dependant on private educational institutions to pass the educational recruitment examination. Students preparing for employment were unsure of their vocational aptitude because they rarely have the opportunity for self-exploration and were often confronted with prejudice in the work environment by candidates who graduated from a college of education.
