국문 초록

비톄즈슬라프 네즈발의 1924년 시집 〈팬터마임〉은 여러 예술가들의 집단적인 참여에 의한 집단창작의 성격을 갖는 동시에, 사진, 타이포그래피, 보드빌, 팬터마임, 코미디 등과 같은 낮은 단계의 대중예술들을 순수예술의 영역으로 끌어들임으로써 예술의 영역을 확장하고 생활로서의 예술을 도모한다. 특히 시 〈알파벳〉은 포에티즘의 ‘시각 언어’를 바탕으로 ‘단어 해방’을 추구하고 ‘놀이로서의 시’를 지향하며, 시 〈경이로운 마법사〉는 경이로운 마법과 같은 자유자재의 변화를 중심주제로 내세워 ‘유희와 판타지로서의 시’라는 포에티즘 시의 정신에 부응한다. 그의 1928년 시집 〈에디슨〉은 끊임없는 창조와 재창조의 길에 나서는 인간들의 도전과 좌절, 환희와 절망과 같은 분열적인 인간심리를 끊임없는 비유와 이미지의 축적을 통해, 또한 장인적인 압운과 즉흥적이면서도 경이적인 시작법을 통해 그려내면서 종국에는 ‘삶의 예술’과 ‘삶을 활용하는 예술’이라는 포에티즘 예술의 정신을 구현한다. 야로슬라프 사이페르트의 1923년 시집 〈순전한 사랑〉의 일부시들은 이그조티시즘과 에로티시즘이 결합된 사랑과 현대 기계문명에 대한 숭배와 찬미를 통해 ‘생활의 예술’을 추구한다. 그의 1925년 시집 〈무선전신의 파도에 실어〉는 회화적인 요소와 파격적은 타이포그래피를 사용하고 복합주제 시의 기법과 자유연상 기법을 도입하면서 ‘즐거움 의 시’, ‘놀이로서의 시’, ‘삶의 충전제로서의 시’, ‘정신적 위생법으로서의 시’, ‘생활의 시’, ‘생활 방식으로서의 시’라는 포에티즘 시의 프로그람을 실현한다. 포에티즘은 삶과 작품을 별개의 것으로 보지 않으면서 삶이 작품이 되고 작품이 삶이 되는 그러한 세계를, 또한 축제, 영혼의 불꽃놀이, 유희, 판타지로 충만한 그러한 세계를 추구하였다. 포에티즘은 정연한 논리를 배척하고 순수하고도 빛나는 감성을 숭상하면서 비유, 유머, 자유연상, 불규칙적인 압운을 동원하여 세상의 모든 사물을 ‘창조된 첫날의 빛나는 모습’으로 바꾸어놓기를 소망하였으며, ‘웃음을 웃는 세상’, ‘향기를 발산하는 세상’을 꿈꾸면서 영화, 서커스, 곡예, 보드빌과 같은 대중예술을 끌어들여 예술의 지평을 확대하고, 유럽, 아프리카, 아시아, 아메리카, 그리고 지구의 남쪽과 북쪽을 포괄함으로써 예술 공간의 확장을 도모하였다. 네즈발과 사이페르트는 이러한 포에티즘의 정신을 자신들의 작품들을 통해 가장 잘 구현한 대표적인 시인들이었고 이들과 더불어 체코 현대시는 전성기를 구가하였으며 두 사람은 체코 현대시의 가장 위대한 시인들이 되었다.

영문 초록

Czech-origin Poetism which has been recognized as an international artistic movement was oriented to the artistic revolution rather than the political revolution. Víitězslav Nezval’s Pantomime (Pantomima; 1924) has expanded its thematic boundary with the adoption of the various types of the popular arts like film, circus, vaudeville, comedy, pantomime, and typography. So the spirit of Pantomime is closer to the spirit of vaudeville rather than serious literature. We can note it in the titles of the sections of the collection: Family of Harlequins, Parrot on a Motorbike, Telegrams on Wheels, The Week in Colours, The Amazing Magician, Exotic Loves, Rocket, Cocktails. In his next collection Edison (1928) the hero appears once again as the poet-liberator, but this time as a scientist who is able to change the face of the world by invention of light. But the hero of the poem Edison shows his split personality wavering between the challenge and the frustration, between the ecstasy and the despair, and between the relief and a sense of futility. Jaroslav Seifert’s collection Nothing but Love (Samá láska; 1923) marking a transition in his works seeks to realize the poetist programme ‘poetry of living’ by introduction of the charms of the modern technical civilization. In his next collection On the Waves of the Wireless (Na vlnáh TSF; 1925) the poetist programme ‘poetry as a play’ and ‘poetry as a game’ has been realized particularly in the poetry like Abacus, Circus, Rebus, and the poetist programme ‘poetry of amusement’ and ‘poetry of mental hygiene’ particularly in Honeymoon, Sea, All Perfumes, Abacus. And almost all of the poems in the collection except a few lyrical anecdotes are oriented to the exotic world. So exoticism accompanied very often by eroticism comprises an important feature of the collection. Both Nezval’s and Seifert’s poetist poetry are characteristic of the poetist method of polythematic poetry and free association supported by the constant sequences of images. Both of them represented Cezch Poetism in its initiation and in its best years in the second half of 1920s, and then they became two great representatives of the first golden age of the modern Czech literature.
