국문 초록

본 논문에서 젊은 불가리아 감독 ‘야보르 그르데프’의 2008년 영화 〈지프트〉 속에 불가리아 사회주의 과거 묘사와 표현의 분석 연구를 하고자 한다. 상징 이론을 통해서 오래된 사회주의 개념을 분석하며 이 영화가 전에 사회주의 개념을 다룬 영화와 다르고 새로운 분석 방식을 보여준다고 증명할 것이다. 본 논문에서 불가리아 시네마에 혁신적인 장르 결합인 Neo-noir, 블랙코미디, 그리고 사회주의 예술(sots art)의 상징과 기술에 집중한다. 〈지프트〉가 현대 시데의 사회주의 개념과 영향의 표현이 되는 영화인 증명으로 다양한 불합리와 형상의 혼힙을 다룬다. 본 논문은 과거에 집착하지 않고 미래를 중심으로 하는 현대 사회의 앞면 취향을 지니는 영화라고 본다. 놀랍지 않게 그러한 시데한테는 사회주의가 오래된 추억이며 권리 침해와 어린 시절의 태연의 결합이다. 〈지프트〉에서는 냉소벽과 음울한 유머가 섞여 표현되지만 사회주의를 다루는 다른 영화와 달리 후회와 비통 표현되지 않는 것이 주목할 만하다.

영문 초록

This article reviews and analyzes the representations of the Bulgarian socialist past in the 2008 film of young Bulgarian director Yavor Gardev – Zift. Using symbolic theory to analyze representations of the old concept of socialism, it will prove that the film Zift offers an innovative approach, different from the representations offered by other films dealing with the same subject. The paper focuses on symbols of socialism (sots-art), as well as techniques of neo-noir and black comedy – a genre combination also new for Bulgarian cinematography. Controversies and mixtures of imagery are dealt with as proof that the film is a true representation of a modern generation’s idea of a communist past and its effect on the present. This article argues that Zift represents a mature and forwardoriented approach that can only be afforded by a social group that has ceased to focus on the mistakes of the past and is instead concentrated on the future. Simultaneously, this also happens to be a generation to which the communist past is a rather distant memory, a bitter-sweet recollection of social injustice and childhood nonchalance. As a result Zift conveys moods of cynicism and dark humor, but none of the regret and bitterness that are typical for other films dealing with the same subject.
