In Koguryo’s roof-end tiles, lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles which prevailed in Pyungyang area and arranged relieved lotus flowers and line carved lotus flowers alternately were discovered. But this style which reveals the creativity of Koguryo is not discovered in other regions except Koguryo. In the prevailing period of lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles, in one hand honeysuckle design which is foreign decorative design was developed since it had been introduced in Koguryo, on the other hand lotus and honeysuckle design roof-end tiles were discovered as honeysuckle design replaced with the line carved lotus flower in lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles. From the beginning of 6th century to the middle of 6th century, lotus and honeysuckle design roof-end tiles which derived from lotus flower + lotus design roof-end tiles became typeⅠ tile of 4+4 style. TypeⅠ roof-end tiles still had the formal characteristics of lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles: the shape of lotus flower which expressed as central design; the points which engraved in left and right side of lotus flower. But as times go by, it broke away from lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles and changed to a new style typeⅡ. In typeⅡ roof-end tiles, honeysuckle design deviated from a regular shape and advanced to non-regular shape gradually. Some of the typeⅡ roof-end tiles have inverted triangle division design which is the characteristic of non-dividing line lotus design roof-end tiles. As supplement designs are inserted between inner section and outer section, typeⅡ is different from type Ⅰin its shape. TypeⅡ roof-end tiles, in nd tarison with the transformation of lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles, can be chronicled from the beginning of 6th century to the middle of 6th century. In typeⅡ, honeysuckle design used as aend tiles. design in typeⅠ was expressed as central design. As honeysuckle design replaced with the eⅡ, honeysuckledesign which is the central design of lotus flower+lotus design roof-end tiles, cd tiles. As supplement desi that has the As supplemenas central design cduld be developed. Save for the As supplemendesign, cd tiles. As supplement desi also combine with arabesque design. But when it came to type Ⅲ, composite honeysuckle design disappeared and lotus and honeysuckle design only prevailed. From the fact, we can guess that the composite honeysuckle design is a prevailing type in particular period and areas. Type Ⅲ has new shape of lotus flower and ovary that are different from type Ⅱ. Also in type Ⅲ, supplement designs like lotus pearl design or triangle design were expressed between outer section and border newly, so it has the different formal characteristics in comparison with the type Ⅱ. As lotus pearl design which is foreign element is chronicled in 7th century, type Ⅲ roof-end tiles can be chronicled in the early to middle of 7th century.
