영문 초록

This paper aims to give a phonological account of liquids & fricatives and consonant harmony patterns shown in Korean infants. Phonological phenomena in this paper include substitution processes such as stopping of fricatives, nasalization of liquids, stopping of velars, and fronting of palatals and syllable structure processes such as deletion. The data in this study are taken from the spontaneous utterances of ten Korean infants from 26 to 45 months. Based on these data. We also examine the order of the consonantal acquisition of infants and illustrate the order of the substitution processes. The utterances of infants show various consonant harmony patterns such as labio-velar harmony, velar-labial harmony and labio-coronal harmony. For example, when the target is glottal which is triggered by labial, some infants do not show consonant harmony, but other infants do. In this paper, we show that these phenomena are well-captured within the framework of Optimality Theory.
