영문 초록

This paper analyses the palatalization phenomena in Russian by the Derivational Optimality Thoery (Rubach 1977). Russian palatalization is phonologically productive phenomenon and it causes fronting of consonants or backing of vowels in according to its environment. In this paper, I accept the necessity of level division of Rubach (2000), but unlike his proposal, classify two levels in according to morphological characters. And then suggest that level Ⅰ includes derivation and morpho-syntactic processes more than inflection belong to level Ⅱ. I argue that the hierarchy of constraints should be Maintain Contrast (in level Ⅰ), Ident-IO[back](in level Ⅱ) 》 Ident-C[-back], PAL-i, *i 》 *i, Ident-C[+back]. Moreover, I suggest the necessity of class division in according to affix. In other words, this paper shows a necessity of modification of Derivational Optimality Theory for Russian phonology with a strong possibility of it.
