영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the factors in local festivals that are important in attracting both local residents and tourists to the festivals. Data were collected on Geoje Island during June through August of 2006, and 708 samples were used for statistical analysis. A multiple correlation analysis was conducted to find out the factors in festivals that are perceived important by the local residents and tourists. The result showed that ‘things to buy’ has relationship with the respondents’ number of participation in the festivals. ‘Things to eat’ also revealed significant relationship, but the correlation coefficient was negligible. A further analysis by dividing the sample into two groups, the residents and tourists, showed that only the ‘things to buy’ factor had a statistical significance for both groups. Limitations and implication of the study are discussed.
