영문 초록

This research sheds light on the national cultural influence on travel motivations. Arguing against the dominant approach in cross-cultural research that generally employ a dichotomy in classifying cultural orientation (i.e. collectivism vs. individualism), this study proposes that cultural difference may exist among the nations, which are in the same broad category. In order to identify the national cultural difference in tourism studies, this article compares travel motivations of Asian college students (Chinese vs. SouthKorean). Analyses provide statistical evidence of the determinant national cultures that influence the choice of destination area as well as the reasons for traveling. This study also demonstrates the influence of constraints on travel motivations.
