The Role of Anglicisms in Czech Specialised Discourse

국문 초록

본 논문에서는 의학 분야와 같은 매우 전통적인 분야에서 체코어 전문어휘와 직업적 의사소통에 미치는 영어의 영향력이 증가하고 있는 현상을 연구하였다. 단일언어사용, 다언어사용 의학사전에서 발췌한 부분들과 출판된 의학 학술 텍스트들을 기반으로 현대 체코어 의학 전문 용어와 지금은 의사소통에서 영어의 번역 텍스트와 원본 텍스트를 읽고, 또한 본인들의 전문적 텍스트를 영어로 직접 저술해야 하는 (주로 서면으로 된) 의학적 의사소통에서의 영어 표현의 위상과 몫을 판단하고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 체코어에서 영어 용어들의 수용 정도, 용인된 국제 전문용어의 동의어들, 체코 언어 체계의 관점에서 바라본 비정상적 영어 표현들에 초점을 맞추고 있다.

영문 초록

The article examines the phenomena of an increased influence of English on the Czech specialised vocabulary and on professional communication in a (lexically) so traditional field as medicine. This phenomenon is viewed as an expression of the internationalisation process of language which proves to be a general tendency in the development of modern languages. On the basis of excerpts from monolingual and multilingual medical dictionaries and of published scholarly texts in the field of medicine the paper attempts to judge the position and the share of anglicisms in contemporary Czech medical terminology and in (written) medical communication, in which authors are now increasingly compelled to read translated and original English texts and also to write their own professional texts in English. Attention is focused on the degree of adaptation of English terms in Czech, on accepted international terminological synonyms and on anglicisms abnormal from the viewpoint of the Czech linguistic system.
