국문 초록

이 연구는 말더듬 아동 어머니와 일반 아동 어머니를 대상으로 말더듬에 대한 고정관념 비교 연구를 실시하고, 말더듬 아동 어머니 집단 내에서 말더듬에 대한 고정관념에 말더듬 지속기간 및 치료기간이 영향을 미치는지에 대해 알아보아, 임상 현장에서 말더듬 아동 부모들을 이해하여 아동의 말더듬 치료에 도움을 주는 데에 목적이 있다. 말더듬 아동 어머니 44명과 말더듬 아동과 성별 및 생활연령을 일치시킨 일반 아동 어머니 44명을 대상으로 말더듬에 대한 고정관념 설문지(Woods & Williams, 1976)와 사례면담지를 이용하여 연구를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 두 집단 간에 말더듬에 대한 고정관념에서 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 또한 말더듬 아동 어머니 집단 내에서 아동의 말더듬 지속기간 및 치료기간과 말더듬에 대한 고정관념 간의 상관을 분석한 결과 모두 유의미하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 말더듬 아동 어머니들이 일반 아동 어머니들과 비교하여 말더듬에 대해 더 심화된 고정관념을 가지고 있지 않다는 것을 시사하며, 지속기간과 치료기간이 말더듬에 대한 고정관념에 미치는 영향이 미미할 것이라는 것을 의미한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to compare whether there is a difference in stereotype about stuttering between the Mothers of Children Who Stutter(CWS) and the Mothers of Normally Fluent Children(CWNS), and conducted research into change in the stereotype of the mothers of CWS according to the duration and therapy period of stuttering. This study undertook research by using a case interview questionnaire as well as a 25-item semantic differential scale (Woods & Williams, 1976) aimed at 44 mothers of CWS and 44 mothers of CWNS, in which the children's gender and chronological age were matched with each other. The results of the present research were as follows: Firstly, there was no significant difference in the stereotype about stuttering between the mothers of CWS and the mothers of CWNS. Secondly, as a result of analyzing the correlation between the duration of children stuttering and stereotype about stuttering within the mothers of CWS, it was found not to be significant. This means that the prolonged duration of children stuttering does not deepen the stereotype of the mothers. Thirdly, as a result of analyzing the correlation between the therapy period for children stuttering and stereotype about stuttering within the mothers of CWS, it was discovered not to be significant. This implies that a prolonged therapy period for children stuttering does not intensify the stereotype of the mothers.
