영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to consider the life as a literary person through the poetic world of Wucho, Sang-kyo, Nam who lived from the ruling period of King Jongjo to King Gojong of the Chosun Dynasty. Wuchon, Sang-kyo, Nam is not known in the history of literature at all, but his then literary status equaled the representative poets in the 18th &19th century. Wuchon was involved in literary activity associating with the well-known literary persons of the time through poetic circles named "Maesa" This research tried to analyze Wuchon's poetic world centering on thematic aspects and poetic characteristics. This research, to be concrete, looked at his thematic aspects and poetic characteristics by dividing them 1] will to participate in reality and pursuit of self-satisfaction 2] liking & taste for urban culture 3] poetic manifestation through the enjoyment of nature. Considering the present situation of the literary collection which are scattered and lost in an anthological form of several manuscripts, it's considerably hard to completely inquire into Wuchon's life and poetic world. Thus, this research took a look at Wuchon's literary collection with focus on the rare book-Korea University-possessed ≪ Cheongranggankwanchogo≫, but it requires the examination & arrangement of a lot more data in dealing with general aspects of Wuchon's poems. Wuchon didn't aggressively reflect the reality of the time on literature, but from pure literature aspects, he is believed to gain a reputation of the time. The poem, in the eyes of Wuchon, was a tool enabling him to be content with his disadvantage of political isolation. It's possible to take a glance at his will to be involved in reality, but he showed the onsciousness of self-satisfaction and proportional division after all. In addition, Wuchon's poems are considered as having adequate value in taking a look at the aspects of the 19th century urban preference and lifestyle. As a characteristic of expression, we can point out the delicate description leavened with a lot of pictorial elements. Particularly, in landscape description through sightseeing in nature, Wuchon deployed his poetic words by displaying a delicate observation just like looking at a picture. In addition, it can be said that Wuchon sought the beauty of literature by laying stress on technical skills in expression.
