국문 초록

오늘날의 예술 개념은 근대 이후 형성된 것으로 일상과 분리되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 여타의 기술과 비교하여 특권적 지위를 누리고 있다. 그러한 구분은 르네상스 이후 근대에 이르러 형성된 것이다. ‘순수예술’은 그 목적과 방법에 있어서 예술의 독보적인 지위를 확고히 하고자 신의 창조에 비견되는 창조성의 개념을 독점하며 신비롭고 창조적인 예술가의 개념을 형성하였다. 그 결과 영감, 상상력, 자유, 창조성은 예술가에게, 기술, 규칙, 모방은 장인에 속한 것으로 분류하였다. 본 논문은 예술의 특권화와 신비화의 기저에 모호하고 추상적인 창조성 개념이 자리하고 있다는 것을 비판하고 창조성에 대한 현대 심리학의 연구 성과를 바탕으로 창조성의 개념을 밝히고자 한다. 창조성은 예술뿐만 아니라 과학, 기술, 경영, 운동, 교육 등에까지 두루 적용되는 개념이며 특별한 천재에게만 속하는 것이 아님을 밝힐 것이다. 누구에게나 잠재적으로 창조적 능력이 있으며, 그러한 창조성을 일상에서도 발휘할 수 있으며, 삶과 예술을 통합할 수 있다는 주장을 펼칠 것이다. 창조적 일상을 사는 것의 가장 큰 매력은 삶의 의미를 만들어내고 생의 활력을 향상시킬 수 있다는 점이다.

영문 초록

The concept of the arts, as we commonly understand it nowadays, was first formed alongside the advent of the modern era. More precisely, it was formed during the Renaissance period and developed continually afterwards. "fine art" had attempted to solidify its lock on both the objectives of art as well as its methodology by monopolizing the concept of creativity-not unlike the idea of divine creation-resulting in a notion of the artist being a mystical and creative figure. This led to an understanding that the realms of inspiration, imagination, liberty, and creativity belonged to the artist, while those of technique, guidelines, and emulation were those of the craftsman. This paper criticizes the ambiguous and abstract notions of creativity that are situated at the root of the arts' privilege and mysticism, while relying upon modern psychology research to shed light on a new interpretation of creativity. The author shows that creativity is a concept that applies not only to the arts but also a wide range of subjects, including science, technology, administration, sports, and education. Creativity is innate to all and not exclusive to so-called brilliant minds. Hence, the potential for creativity lies within all human beings. When that potential is realized in every day life, it results in an integration of life and the arts. In turn, a creative lifestyle becomes an extremely attractive idea that imbues meaning into life itself while also adding vitality.
