어린이집 영아 안전사고에 대한 원장과 교사의 경험 및 영아 안전교육

국문 초록

본 연구는 어린이집에서 일어나는 영아 안전사고에 대한 원장과 교사의 경험을 구체적으로 알아보고, 영아 안전교육이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 파악해 봄으로써 영아 안전사고 및 영아 안전교육의 실제에 대한 정보를 제공하고자 하는 목적에서 이루어졌다. 이러한 연구목적을 위해 영아반이 구성되어 있으면서 영아 안전교육을 실시하고 있는 어린이집의 원장과 교사 16명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였으며 참여관찰을 통해 구체적이고 실제적인 자료를 수집하였다. 또한 연간안전교육계획안, 안전일지 등을 보조 자료로 활용함으로써 분석과 해석에 대한 신뢰도를 확보하고자 하였으며 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어린이집에서 안전사고가 발생했을 때 교사와 원장들은 ‘죄인이다’라는 죄의식과 부모가 사고에 대해 어떻게 수용할지에 대한 불안감, 사고로 인한 상처가 영아에게 영구적으로 남으면 어떻게 하나에 대한 걱정으로 괴로웠던 경험들을 가지고 있었다. 따라서 원장과 교사들은 안전사고를 당한 영아 부모의 속상함에 대한 공감과 모든 요구에 대한 무조건적인 수용으로 안전사고를 해결하는 것이 현명하다고 여기고 있었다. 둘째, 어린이집 원장과 교사들은 영아 안전교육의 주안점을 예방에 두었으며 유아안전교육의 내용을 단순화시키거나 언어사용의 수준을 낮춰 일상생활 속에서 또 안전사고가 발생하는 상황을 이용하여 수시로 반복하여 실시하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 안전사고가 발생했을 때 이를 원만하게 해결해줄 수 있는 중재 시스템이 지역별로 마련되어야 하고 어린이집에서 효율적으로 실행할 수 있는 영아안전교육 내용 기준 마련 및 이를 실행할 수 있는 영아 안전교육 자료가 개발되어야 한다.

영문 초록

In this study, attempts have been made to provide useful information on the infant negligent accidents and safety education by investigating how directors and teachers have experienced the negligent accidents at daycare center and by examining what safety training for infants have been offered. Detailed and practical data have been collected through participant observation and interviews with a director and 16 teachers who have already offered safety training to the infants at the center. Reliabilities for the analyses and the interpretations were secured by making additional use of yearly safety training plan and safety daily records. The results of the study in as follows. Firstly, most of the directors and teachers had painful experiences of sense of guilty, anxiety on the parents’ reactions, apprehension on the permanent injuries, and so on. They, consequently, considered it as thoughtful response to unconditionally accept every sympathy and request made by parents of the accident victims. Secondly, they put major stress on the prevention of the accidents during the safety training, and repeatedly practiced the training on a daily basis by simplifying the training contents and lowering the language levels as well. Therefore infant safety training is turned out to be inevitable at daycare centers, and it is highly recommended to prepare its guideline that is focused only on the infants themselves, to develop appropriate training material, and to have periodic leacher educations.
