국문 초록

단어의 형성을 다루는 논의들은 IP 모형에 기반을 두고 있다. IP 모형은 비도출형에 모종의 형태론적 조작을 가해서 도출형을 산출한다. 규칙을 단어 형성의 인지적 기제로 간주하는 입장에 선다면 접사 파생과 합성은 ‘첨가’라는 형태론적 조작을 거쳐 형성된다고 기술하게 된다. 그러나 유추의 관점을 취하게 되면 유추에 의한 파생과 합성은 ‘대치’라는 형태론적 조작을 수반한다. 유추에 의한 단어 형성은 근거 단어(들)로부터 추상된 구조적인 틀을 표적에 사상(寫像, mapping)하는 과정이다. 그 결과 비도출형(근거 단어)과 도출형(새 단어)은 같은 구조를 갖게 된다. 이 과정에서 근거 단어(들)의 일부를 다른 어휘적 요소로 대치하는 조작이 수반된다. 유추에 의한 단어 형성이 대치 조작을 수반한다는 것은 유추에 의한 단어 형성 과정이 수평적 방향으로 진행됨을 뜻한다.

영문 초록

Arguments discussing word formation are based in the IP model. In the IP model, new words are formed by applying certain morphological operations to underived words. Assuming that word-formation is a rule-governed process, affixation and compounding are the results of the morphological operation of 'addition'. But if one assumes that word formation is an analogical process, affixation and compounding by analogy are the results of the morphological operation of 'replacement'. Word formation by analogy is a process that maps a structural scheme abstracted from the source words onto the target. As a result, the structure of the derived forms (new words) is the same as that of the underived forms (source words). This process is followed by a morphological operation that replaces a part of the source words with another lexical element. The fact that word formation by analogy is accompanied by a replacement operation implies that word formation by analogy applies horizontally.(Osaka University of Foreign Studies)
