국문 초록

이 연구는 대학수학능력시험의 변천의 내용과 그 동인을 분석하고 수능과 관련한 주요 이슈와 쟁점을 밝힘으로써 향후 수능의 개선 혹은 새로운 대학입학시험 구안에 필요한 시사점을 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 수능 관련 문헌 및 자료를 통하여 변천 과정을 분석․정리하였고, 1993년～2009년 동안의 수능 관련 신문 사설 93개(조선일보 49개, 한겨레신문 44개)를 대상으로 수능의 주요 관심 문제와 논지 및 쟁점을 분석하였다. 수능의 영역명, 출제 범위, 영역 배점․문항 수.시험 시간, 점수 체제 등에서 각기 4차례 이상의 변화를 보였으며, 점수 체제의 변화 횟수가 가장 많았다. 그리고 정부 시책, 교육과정 개정, 고교 및 대학의 요구, 측정 내용과의 부합성 제고 등이 변천의 주요 동인으로 나타났다. 또한 시험의 성격 및 체제, 수능 관리, 난이도, 점수 체제, 기타 영역에서 대립되는 논지와 쟁점을 밝혔다. 수능의 성격 규정이 무엇보다도 중요하고, 정부 시책에 의한 수능개선은 자제해야 하며, 수능 쟁점에 대한 숙의의 과정을 거쳐 대입시험의 개선을 도모해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The study of this study is to analyze the contents and cause of changes in the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) and henceforth provide ideas in improving the CSAT system. The study analyzed and sorted out the change process through CSAT-related reference materials and data as well as analyzing the main issues of concern and dispute by examining newspaper editorials (49 Chosun Ilbo editorials and 44 Hankyoreh editorials) related with the CSAT during the period from 1993 to 2009. Through the study, we found that the test domain name, examination questions, scoring of each subject, number of items, examination time, and scoring system showed a change more than four times, with the scoring system showing the most change. The government policies, curriculum revision, demands of high schools and universities, conformity with the contents of evaluation were found to be main cause of change. The study also revealed the different points and issues in the nature and system of the test, test administration, level of difficulty scoring system, and other subjects. Regulation of the nature of the CSAT was found to be important above all while the need to consider the improvement of university entrance exam after carefully deliberating the issues of the CSAT.
