기능적 조음음운장애 아동의 종성 음운변동 분석

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 한국어 말소리를 습득하는 2세부터 6세까지의 일반아동에게서 가장 많이 나타나는 음운변동은 종성탈락이라는 결과와 전형적 어중단순화라는 결과가 있다. 두 가지 변동은 각각 일반아동 뿐 아니라 기능적 조음음운장애 아동에게도 가장 빈번한 오류로 알려져 있다. 종성탈락과 전형적 어중단순화는 모두 종성오류와 관련되어 있으나, 종성탈락은 낱말 내 위치를 나누지 않은 것이고, 전형적 어중단순화는 생략과 동화를 나누지 않은 개념이어서 정확한 종성의 오류양상과 빈도를 알 수 없다. 우리말 종성은 7종성규칙 때문에 초성과 전혀 다른 음소체계를 갖고 있으며 어중과 어말 환경에 따라 다르게 산출된다. 본 연구에서는 기능적 조음음운장애아동의 종성 음운변동 특성을 분석하고, 종성오류가 전체 자음정확도를 얼마나 예측할 수 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 방법: 19명의 기능적 조음음운장애 아동을 대상으로 어중종성과 어말종성이 포함된 검사낱말을 산출하도록 하여 탈락과 대치 및 동화 변동내용을 분석하였다. 종성오류는 산출위치와 음소특성에 따라 유음을 제외한 어중종성과 어말종성, 그리고 유음종성으로 나누어 분석하고 각 종성오류와 전체자음정확도의 상관을 구했다. 결과: 산출위치와 음소특성에 따른 오류로는 어말오류가 가장 적고, 다음으로 유음오류, 마지막으로 어중오류가 가장 많이 나타났다. 가장 많은 오류유형은 탈락이었다. 종성오류와 자음정확도는 .80의 높은 상관을 보여주었으며, 특히 어중종성오류와 전체자음정확도와의 상관이 가장 높았다. 논의 및 결론: 특히 어중종성의 다양한 맥락에서 종성을 평가할 필요가 있으며, 우리말에 필요한 종성평가 음운변동체계를 개발해야 한다.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: The Korean coda consonant system (syllable-final consonant) differs from the onset system (syllable-initial consonant). The present study investigates coda error patterns in word-medial and word-final positions of Korean children with specific phonological disorders (PD). Methods: Data were collected from 19 children, 5 to 6 years of age with PD, but no language delay. Twenty-nine words from the Assessment of Phonology & Articulation for Children (APAC) were used to analyze error patterns in 16 word-medial position codas, and 14 word-final position codas. Results: The findings were as follows: First, a syllable-final consonant in the word-medial position showed more errors than in the word-final position. Second, among types of error (deletion, harmony, substitution etc.), deletion was the most common. Third, the correlation between PCC and the number of each coda error was fairly high. Discussion & Conclusion: The present study shows the importance of understanding the error patterns observed in word-medial position codas, where deletion is the most common type of phonological process. Continuing to develop the phonological tests for codas in the word-medial position is necessary in order to further support children with PD.
