All human beings die, and the death is inevitable as well as is the subject of horror. As a result they have been eager to free from the fear of the death through the adoption of a certain religion. According to Confusion duality the body is turned into a handful of soil and soul is ascended to heaven, on the other hand, the Christian faith advocates that the human beings would preserve their eternal life after death. In Buddhism, the death means that it is turned into earth, water, fire and wind. So the Buddhists have a belief that
the cremation is not an end but a new life through the rebirth of Karma. With the different concept of individual future life after death by the above religions, Confusion and Christianity prefer to burial, on the other hand, Buddhism would like to enshrine the 3arira Reliquary in the stupa after cremation. 3arira is the shape of a glass bead from the ashes of Buddha and monk after their cremation. Many people believe that 3arira comes from the ashes of Buddha and holy monks, but the original meaning of 3arira is the body according to Indian language. The earlier notion of new 3arira which means dhatu is changed into the modern day notion of religious Sarira. The Buddhists enshrine their Sarira m the Stupa, and this tradition has become the funeral rites of them. The cremation tradition is originated from the ancient India, and this fw1eral rites IS spread to Gandara, Central Asia, China and Korea through the introduction of Buddhism. Buddhism is developed differently in each nation by the its social and cultural tradition, but the original tradition of Sarira Reliquary has been intact as a religious fine art by the strict Buddhism discipline. At any rate Sarira Reliquary is said to be one of the fine art masterpieces because of its admirable modeling and adornment techniques. Sarira Reliquary is sometimes called as a Sarira majesty because of its solemn procedure of installation. Sarira Reliquary is generally made by gold, silver, copper, iron and stone in India, China
and Korea. Korea / s Sarira Reliquary seems to be the most diverse and delicate. China and Japan have a number of different types of Sarira Reliquary, but those of Korea are much more diverse than the two countries.
In this regard, this research exan1ines the ongm of Indian Sarira Reliquary, and the background of its transmission into China and Korea. The research also investigates the sinlilarities and differences of the place, method, structure, material, design, size, type, and techniques of Sarira Reliquary in the Three Kingdoms.
