현대공예 현상의 분석과 해석 가능성

국문 초록

조형예 술도 정보를 가진 언어체계임이 분명하다. 따라서 정 보유통 즉 원 활한 의사소통을 위해서는 명확한 약호체계를 필요로 한다 그리고 그것을 바탕으로 약호를 구성하고 나열하여 정보를 만들고 그 약호체계에 따라 해석하는 과정이 필요하다는 것은 자명한 일이다.작품구조는 제 작자， 수용자， 작품과 그 맥락(context)과 관계되는 중첩된 구조로 짜여있으며 ，이를 이해하고 분석하는 방법으로 기호학이 유효한 수단으로 등장했다‘ 즉 물적 존재인 작품은수신자에 의해 해독되어 시각적 이미지로 전환되고， 수신자가 그것을 이해할 때 그것이 바로 전언 (Message) 의 목표가 된다 이것이 작품제작 의도가 되는 것이다 여기서 수신자는 작품을 이해함으로써 새로운 예술적 경험 을 획득하게 된다. 이러한 일련의 과정을 구조적으로 파악하려는것이 바로 기호학이기 때문이다.현대 공 예는 근대공예 ( 20세기까지의 공예)의 기능주의를 최우선으로 하는 합리성과 표현의 제약성으로부터 해방이라는 의미에서 자율적인 언어를 새로운 공예형식으로 나타나기 시작했다.이처럼 현대사회가 배태한 다양하고 복잡한 기호를 사용하는 현대공예를 이해하기 위해서는 새로운 이론적 모델이 필요하다 즉， 현대공예에 사용되는 기호들을 해석할 수 있는 기초적 토대를이루는 인식소가 필요한 것이다.찰스 모리스(Charles Morris ) 의 언어의 기호적 측면을 구조적 ( 통사론적 의미론적 ) 국변과 기능적(활용론적) 국면으로 구별하고 있는 인식소로 하여 현대공예가 가지고 있는 의미해석의 가능성을 열어주고 있다. 즉 표시적 기호 평가적 기호 명령적 기호 형식적 기호로 현대공예의 현상을 구분하면 현대공예 의미체계에 대한 인식소를 추출할 수 있을 것이다 이러한 현대공예의현상구조는 작가의 의도와 사회적 환경을 수용한 작품으로서 언어화된 텍스트 구조로 변환될 가 능성을 함께 제시한다 다시 말하면 미적 텍스트로서의 공예작품 구조는 그 기호가 지시하는 기호사용의 맥락을 언어적 상징으로 파악하는 것이 가능하다는 것이 다 하나의 작품은 해석자에게는 완전히 다른 기호체계로 제시되어 다양한 의미해석을 가능하게 한다 따라서 작품이 해석자에게 불러일으키는 해석행위의 상황이라는 관점에서 이해하려는 노력이 필요한 것 이다이러한 관념을 구체화시키기 위한 실용적인 방법론으로 로만 야콤슨(Roman Johnbson) 이 문학에 대한 해석과정 을 제시한 주장은 의미가 있다고 생각된다. 그는 언어전달 행위의 가능성을 현대공예의 새로운 의미발생에 대하여 적용할 수 있을 것 이다 이러한 적용은 작품이 언어활동으로서 탐구될 수 있는 가능성을 제시하는 것이며， 이 는 또한 작품의 의미생산 구조를 파악하는데필수적 요건은 바로 이 언어화 과정인 것이다 이러한 언어활동들은 곧 텍스트로 전환될 가능성을 말하는 것과 같다고 할 수 있다텍스트는 기호체계를 전체적으로 다루려는 것이며 이는 체계적인 요소뿐만 아니라， 비체계 적인 요소까지도 포함한다 실제로 기호의 복합구조와 결합된 계층성의 원리들은 하위구조의 관점에서 고찰할 때 ， 외부의 비체계적인 것을 체계적인 것으로 간주하게 되는 수용자의 예술적 인식은 언어로 전환되는 텍스트의 재 - 약호를 통해 원칙적으로 어떤 비체계적인 요소도 체계적인 것으로 전이시킬 수 있는 것 이다. 또한 텍스트는 송신자와 수신자가 만나는 기호학적 담론의 장으로서， 그것이 제시하는 기호체들은 모종의 문화적 유사의미를 가지게 된다. 궁극적으로 작품을기호학적으로 접근하려는 것은 작품에 나타나는 기호의 의미화 작용에 관한 메커니즘을 보여주 고， 의미화 과정 속에 들어있는 메커니즘의 생동하는 방식을 뚜렷이 알 수 있도록 하는데 주력하는 것이라고 할 수 있을 것이다현대공예 작품은 감상자의 상상력에 의해 작품을 구성하는 각 요소로 해체되어 개별적으로 기호화되어 읽혀진다， 즉， 기호와 그 기호가 지시하는 대상 사이의 유사성을 약화시키고 약호화된기호의 연계성에 의존하거나 또는 언어적인 표현법과 일반적인 은유 등으로 의미를 전달하려는방식에 언어를 접목시키려는 노력을 하게 되는 것이다 세보크 (S. Sebeok)는 약호란 메시지를변환시켜주는 명료한 규칙들의 묶음이라고 정의하고 있다 그리고 약호의 사회성을 강조한 피에르 귀로드(Pierre Guirad) 는 약호란 기호를 위한 사회적 관습들의 체계라고 정의하고 있다 이에따라 약호의 정의를 명확히 내리면 ‘기호의 명확한 조립과 해독을 위한 문화적 관습이 숨어있는체제이다’라고 말할 수 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

The formative arts are the linguistic system including information. They require a distinct code system for harmonious communication: information circulation. Based on the code system, it is necessary to comprise, arrange the code and make information, and interpret it. The structure of an artwork is composed of overlapping structure related in the context of an artist, an appreciator, and an artwork. Semiotics has appeared as an effective tool to appreciate and to analyze the structure of an artwork. In other words, when an artwork- physical object- is converted to a visual image by an addressee's decoding, and an addressee comprehends this; it becomes the goal of Message. This becomes the intention of making an artwork. At this point an addressee obtains artistic experience by comprehending an artwork To structurally analyze all this process is semiotics. Contemporary craft has shown an autonomous language as the new style of craft which means liberation from the restriction of expression and the rationality in modem craft. (craft until 2OC) To comprehend diverse and complex signs in contemporary craft, a new theological model is required. In other words, the basic foundation, episteme, is necessary to understand the signs in contemporary craft. Charles Morris opened the possibility of interpretation of meanmg m contemporary craft with episteme which divides semiotic aspects of language into structural (syntactic, semantic) and functional (pragmatic) one. If phenomena of contemporary craft are divided into a denotative sign, an evaluative sign, an imperative sign, and a formal sign, the episteme of meaning system in contemporary craft may be extracted. This structure of contemporary craft, as the work that includes artists' intention and social environment, suggests the possibility to be transformed to a linguistic text structure as well. That is, the structure of a craft work as an aesthetic text can analyze the context of sign using, which the sign refers, to a linguistic symbol. One work present to an interpreter as a totally different symbolic system; it becomes possible to be interpreted as different meaning. Accordingly, it is necessary to understand this as the aspect of an interpretation act. Roman Jakobson's point which suggests the interpretation processing about literature is meaningful as a practical methodology to embody this idea. He would apply the possibility of language communicating act to a new meaning occurrence in contemporary craft. This application suggests that an artwork can be investigated as a language activity a necessary matter to understand the structure of meaning production is in the process of malting it into language. These language activities are same to say the possibility of conversion to a text. Text deals with a symbolic system in general this includes not only a systematic element but an unsystematic element. In fact, when the principals of hierarchy united with a compound structure are considered from the view of subordinate structure, the artistic cognition of appreciator, who considers an outer unsystematic thing as a systematic thing, can change unsystematic elements to systematic ones through re-encoding as a general rule. Moreover, as a place for discourse where an addresser and an addressee meet, text's significaturn has some cultural analogous meaning. Ultimately, to approach an artwork semiotically is to show mechanism of signification in the artwork and to reveal the livemethod of mechanism in a signification process. Frontemporary craft work is read as an individual sign decoded by the imagination of an appreciator.
