敦惶寫本『妙法蓮華經』異本에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 돈황사본에서 발견된 『묘법연화경』(구마라집역)의 異本에 관한 제반 사항을 검토한 것이다. I장에서는 먼저 『묘법연화경』스타인사본을 대상으로 異本들의 판본 유형을 추정해보았다. 그 결과， 현행 7권 28품과는 다른， 10권 27품본(A), 8권 28품본(B), 현행 본과 권차 구분이 다른 7권28품본(C) 그리고 제14품이 권4에 속한 판본(D) 등의 유형들을 추정할 수 있었다. 다음으로 『묘볍연화경』의 돈황사본에 필사된 내용의 권차와 품차를 확인하였다. 많이 필사된 권차는 「관세음보살보문품」을 포함하고 있는 제7권, 그 다음으로 제2권， 제6권， 제1권의 순서였다. 많이 필사된 품은 「관세음보살보문품」 제 25J을 비롯하여 「비유품 제 3」, 「서품제 1」, 「화성유품제7」 의 순이었다. 이것으로 보아， 돈황지역에서 관세음보살을 稱念하는 ‘관음신앙’이 대단히 성행하였으며， 법화경의 내용 전달에서 뛰어난 譬喩들이 설득력 높았음을 알 수 있다. II장에서는 『묘법연화경』에 첨품되어 유행하였던 「도량천지품 제29」와 「마명보살품 제 30」 에 대하여 살펴보았다. 「도량천지품」은 佛經의 형식을 잘 갖추고 있으나 내용은 다분히 도교적이다 「마명보살품 제30」 은 諸經錄에 『妙法蓮華經天地變異經』이라고 이름된 경에 해당하는 것이며， 구성면에서는 경전의 형식을 제대로 갖추지 못하고 있으나， 내용면에서는 「도량천지품」보다 훨씬 불교적이며 『大樓炭經』류의 僞經으로 볼 수 있다. 이러한 연구를 통하여， 5-13세기 당시 돈황 지역에서 유행한 법화경과 법화신앙의 일면을 추정해보고자 하였다. 더 많은 자료를 검토한 후에 좀 더 수정된 결과를 얻을 것을 기약해본다.

영문 초록

This study is investigating several matters of the different editions of Saddharmapundarika Sutra, translated by Kumarajiva in Dunhuang Manuscripts. First , I have founded at least 4 editions of the Saddharmapundarika Sutra that do not correspond with Tripitaka Koreana(TK) from the Stein collections. They are the manuscripts of 10 volumes 27 chapters(A), 8 volumes 28 chapters (B), 7 volumes 28 chapters different form TK in dividing volumes(C) and the other one (D). Second, it is the 7th volume including “ the chapter of Guanyin(觀音品)" that was written in the highest frequency. In order of the writing frequency , “the chapter of Guanyin" was the first and 까he chapter of metaphors(譬喩品)" was the second. From this point, the faith in Guanyin was very popular, and the various metaphors in the Lotus-sutra was the best method in the propagation of teaching of the sutra in Dun-huang at that time. Third , I have compared the 29th chapter with the 30th chapter that are kinds of apocrypha(僞經) and added to the Saddharmapundarika Sutra in the early 7th century. “The chapter of measures of the whole world(度量天地品)， the 29th chapter of the Lotus-Sutra completes the formality as a Buddhist sutra, but the content is quite inclined to the Taoism. On the other hand , “the chapter of Ma-myung Bodhisattva(馬明菩薩品)" ， the 30th chapter of the Sutra has very incomplete form , but contains the substance coinciding with Buddhist teaching. As a result , it becomes possible to guess a little sign of popular versions of the Saddharmapundarika Sutra and religious life on the Lotus-sutra around Dunhuang from 5th to 13th century.
