국문 초록

20세기말 유고 지역에서 크로아티아 내전과 보스니아 내전이 발발한 이후 이 지역내 세르비아 소수 민족 문제는 발칸유럽의 안정과 평화의 주요 척도로써 인식되어 왔다. 이러한 연구 배경을 바탕으로, 본 논문에서는 현지 학계에서 발표된 크로아티아내 세르비아 소수민족 문제에 대한 연구 및 분석을 국내에 소개하고, 이를 통해 유고 지역내 세르비아 소수 민족 문제 및 그 형성 배경을 크로아티아를 사례로 분석하고자 했다. 본 논문의 구성은 우선 제 2장에서는 유고 지역내 소수민족의 범주를 크게 3가지, 즉 헝가리, 알바니아 그리고 세르비아 소수민족으로 나누어 그 특징과 내용을 분석해 보았다. 이중 본 논문에선 3번째 범주인 세르비아 소수 민족을 연구하고자 했으며, 사례 지역으로는 크로아티아를 선택해 그 형성 배경에 대해 분석해보고자 했다. 이를 기초로, 제3장에선 크로아티아내 세르비아 소수민족이 형성되게 된 배경을 역사적 사건 별로 3가지 배경으로 나누어 분석하고자 했다. 첫째로는 크로아티아 중세 왕국의 몰락과 1102년 이후 헝가리로의 영토 편입 배경이 훗날 오스만 터키의 유럽 침공과 더불어 세르비아인들의 크로아티아로의 이주 및 크로아티아의 합스부르크 제국으로의 편입을 낳았다고 제시하게 될 것이다. 두 번째로는 합스부르크 제국의 오스만 터키 방어정책이 크로아티아내 세르비아 소수 민족 형성에 중요한 영향을 미쳤다는 점을 제시하며, 그 의미와 결과에 대해 설명하고자 했다. 세 번째로는 합스부르크 제국과 오스만 터키 제국 간에 체결한 스렘스키 카를로브찌(Sremski karlovci) 조약과 보이나 그라니짜(Vojna granica)의 형성을 주요 요인으로 설정해 그 내용을 분석할 것이다.

영문 초록

Studies of the formation of Serbs as an ethnic minority group in Croatia has interested both Serbian and Croatian scholars. In particular, the Civil wars in Croatia and Bosnia that took place in the late twentieth century have sparked international communities' enduring interest in the Serbian ethnic group in the Balkan. Such an interest reflects the awareness that, though it's been ten years since the Civil wars ended, Serbia ethnic groups still remain a volatile problem that might endanger the peace of the region. That is, Montenegro's formal declaration of independence in June 2006, and Kosovo's effort to follow the same route, as which declared independent state in February 2008, can unsettle the Serbian minority of the region who are extremely loyal to their ethnic identity and pride. In this paper, aware of the significance of these events, I will examine the question of the Serbian minority group in Croatia, especially in terms of the historical and social background behind their formation. At first, I will analyze about the problem and present situation Serbian minority in the area of Yugoslavia. And then, in the chapter two. I will explain the background of formation of Serbina minority in Croatia in terms of three reasons as this following. The first is the fall of Croatian medieval kingdom and the expansion of Ottoman Turkey in the Balkan. The second is the protective strategy of Habsburg empire on Croatia and Europe. Finally, the third is the treaty of Sremski karlovci and the Vojna granica along the borders between the Ottoman and the Habsburg.
