국문 초록

‘수신의 연계망’이라 부를 수 있는 ‘격물-치지-성의-정심’의 관계를 해석하는 성리학의 전통적 견해는 완결 순차적인 것이었다. 하지만 수신 연계망의 완결 순차형 해석은 ‘수신의 반복 진술’이라는 문제점을 가져온다. 팔조목에 대한 주희의 진술을 분석하여 보면, 수신의 연계망은 완결 순차적 관계가 아닌, 누진적 관계를 가진다. 누진적 관계에서는 수신의 반복 진술 문제가 발생하지 않는다. 격물단계에서 사물 사건을 접한 후, 치지 단계에서 사물 사건의 리를 인지하고, 성의의 단계에서 사람의 리를 인지 한 후, 정심 단계에서 전체 리의 네트윅을 알게 된 그 다음에 수신이 이루어지는 것이다. 누진적 관계로서 수신의 연계망을 해석할 때, 도덕교육에서 지식은 중요하다. 도덕적 실천은 도덕적 지식이 포함된 전체 지식의 기반 위에 이루어지기 때문이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to re-definition to the Four Categories of the 'Ta-hsueh(大學). There is recently lots of educational study on the Four Categories, because the Four Categories are practical principles of the neo-Confucianism education. The old definitions of the Four Categories are as follows: First half of the four categories, 'Ke wu chih chih(格物-致知)' is a theory for a knowing. The investigation of things is a performance of reaching and study on a matter, and the extension of knowledge is one of the recognizing on the Li of the matter. Second half of the Four Categories, 'Ch'eng ui cheng hsin(誠意-正心)' is a theory for a doing. The Ch'eng ui cheng hsin is only an earnest performance of the Li. But the old definitions have big problem such as a double description in the Eight Categories (八條目) of the Ta-hsueh . The new definitions of the Four Categories are as follows: The Ch'eng ui cheng hsin have not a no relation with a research into the Li, but have a relation. The Ch'eng ui is a performance that based upon the results of the Ke wu chih chih, and is a research into the Li of human. And the cheng hsin is a accomplishment of the Great Knowing(豁然貫通). The Ch'eng ui cheng hsin is a knowing centered activity.
