왕양명(王陽明)의 인간본성에 근거한 윤리관

국문 초록

왕양명은 윤리의 문제를 금욕, 외적 규제의 문제로 바라보지 않고, 생명에서 자연스럽게 생성되는 욕망을 어디로 정향시킬 것인가라는 관점으로 접근한다. 왕양명은 자연의 생성력이 끊이지 않는 생동감 넘치는 萬物一體의 세계에서 개별자가 갖는 욕망은 자연의 생성과정에 동참하고자하는 본능적이고도 자발적인 것이며, 이러한 본능적인 욕망을 ‘仁’이라고 한다. 공평무사하여 至善한 仁은 천지자연 속에서 一體感을 느끼며 서로 기르는 共生의 본능으로 인간에게는 대자연에 자각적으로 동참할 수 있는 良知라는 타고난 본성으로 부여되어 있다. 그러나 공동존재인 자신의 본성을 가리워 천지만물의 生意가 가지는 상보적인 관계를 차폐시켜 급기야 자기자신까지도 파멸에 이르게 하는 惡은 선천적인 본성이 아니라 인간의 관념에 의해 구성된 ‘사적 자기’에 대한 집착에서 생긴 후천적인 私欲에 의한 것으로 본다. 그는 인간의 윤리적 지향은 공동체성이라는 인간 본성에 뿌리박고 있다고 보았기 때문에 인간의 윤리적 행위는 당위적 가치나 규범을 통한 강제가 필요하지 않다고 본다. 이러한 관점은 자발성을 통해 인간 안의 자연성이 가진 생동적 힘을 강화시킬 뿐만 아니라 인간 본성이 지닌 相生의 윤리적 태도를 고양시킨다.

영문 초록

The world of the myriad things from one body which Wang Yang-Ming described is a world with full of natural generative forces and vivid imagery. The desire possessed by an individual living together in this world, is a instinctive and voluntary desire attempting to participate in the generative process of the nature. Wang Yang-Ming referred to such instinctive desire commonly passing through and running in the nature and human as 'sense of oneness with all universal things(仁)‘. That fair, disinterested and extremely good sense of oneness with all universal things, is granted to the human as an inborn nature, an innate intuition of good capable of participating in the good and admirable Mother Nature. Comparing to this, evil which conceals the instinct of oneself as a common existence, shields the complementary relations kept in the inborn will of the nature and is considered to depend on an acquired selfish desire generated from tenacity for private self, not on an innate nature. He thought that ethnical acts of human, as the theme of actions prepared by nature, do not require compulsion through proper values and standards. Such viewpoint uplifts ethnic behavior of mutual existence that human nature has, as well as spontaneously strengthens animative force that exists in naturalness of the human.
