국문 초록

신문매체는 초기의 종이인쇄 형태에서, 인터넷망을 통한 텍스트 탑재로 발전한 뒤 최근에는 휴대가 가능한 단말기 형태의 전자신문으로 진화돼 왔다. 본 연구는 신문매체의 단계별 기술적 진화가 신문 수용자의 이용 동기와 이용의 수준을 결정하는 예측변수로 작용하는가를 밝혀보려는 데서 출발했다. 즉, 기술의 변화과정에서 드러나는 이용자의 이용 동기 및 이용자 속성과 이용 행태를 구체적으로 밝혀 봄으로써 종이 신문, 인터넷 신문, 휴대용 신문 단말기의 미래형 콘텐츠 개발과 기법에 대한 함의를 얻고자 하였다. 이를 통해 신문 사업자의 수용자 타깃전략 뿐 아니라 휴대용 신문 단말기에 대한 수용자의 시각을 논의함으로써 종이신문의 새로운 대안매체로서의 가능성에 대해 검토해보고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 종이 신문과 인터넷 신문의 이용 행태는 정보적 동기에, 휴대용 신문 단말기는 오락적 동기에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났고, 이용자의 연령대에 따라 인터넷 신문과 휴대용 신문 단말기의 이용 행태가 다르게 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 신문매체가 기술적 진화에 따라 수용자들이 어떤 동기를 갖고 이용하는지 개괄적인 행태를 제시하면서 매체의 이용과 충족 이론의 확장을 꾀하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Newspapers have been developed as a media which was able to load online text. Recently newspapers have been evolved e-paper existing as a handy terminal from the type of printing and the Internet. This study is based on whether step-by-step development of newspapers could be a predictive variable which determines newspaper text users' use motive and level. The purpose of this study is that we acquire implication of the newspapers' contents development in the future, online newspapers, e-papers by proving motivation of use, demographic variables and usage patterns in the concrete process of technological change. Furthermore, I attempted to consider the possibility of e-paper as an alternative media through analyzing users' viewpoint and newspaper companies' strategy to their target users. The result showed that use time of both newspaper and online newspaper were affected by information motive. Moreover, it is examined that intention of using e-paper was affected by entertainment motive. It is also examined that using patters of both online newspaper and e-paper differed in relation to the user's age. This study presents use patterns in a general way that includes what kind of motive users have as they use newspaper media such as newspaper, internet newspaper, and e-paper, simultaneously intends to work up the uses and gratifications theory.
