국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 뉴질랜드 교정 시스템과 교정 복지제도를 소개하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 교정복지정책의 국제적 흐름을 검토하고 뉴질랜드의 경험과 관련된 최근의 정책 및 연구 성과들을 강조하였다. 특히 이 논문은 뉴질랜드 교정분야에서 새롭게 부각되고 있는 사회복지서비스의 역할에 중점을 두고 검토하였으며, 그와 관련한 주요 발전과정들을 정리 요약하였다. 교정 사회복지사들은 광범위한 교정 환경 속에서 수용자들의 사회적 욕구에 역점을 두고 일을 해야 하는 커다란 도전에 직면하고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper introduces the New Zealand prison system and the origins of correctional welfare measure. It reviews the international context of correctional welfare policy and highlights key themes from recent policy and research that are relevant ti the New Zealand experience. It has a particular focus on the relatively new social work role in New Zealand prisons and summarises developments that have impacted on social work practice. Major challenges exist for correctional welfare practitioners in addressing the social needs of prisoners in the context wider correctional imperatives.
