국문 초록

  아르토는 언어의 기표와 기의의 관계를 해체하여 배우의 대사를 의미론적으로 해석할 여지를 차단하고, 배우의 몸을 감각적인 기호로 이용한다. 즉 아르토의 연극은 언어적인 텍스트에 따라 움직이는 재현 행위가 아니라, 그 자체로 신체적인 것이고, 물질적인 언어를 통해 작동한다. 이런 시도를 통해 아르토는 탈지층화를 무한대의 절대적 경계까지, 즉 신체를 절대적으로 탈기관화하려는 지점까지 도달하려고 한다. 이것이 들뢰즈의 기관 없는 신체와 아르토의 잔혹 연극이 중첩하는 부분이다.
  강밀도의 분포가 디그리 제로인 상태인 기관 없는 신체는 일관성의 구도에 해당한다. 이와 유사한 공(空) 개념은 디그리 제로인 상태, 하지만 멈추어 있는 게 아니라, 모든 지층을 형성하지만 절대적으로 탈지층화된 상태를 표현하는 것이고, 모든 형식화된 것에서 탈형식화된 절대적 흐름 그 자체로 나아가는 것이며, 형상을 갖는 모든 것에서 어떠한 형상도 갖지 않는 절대적 흐름 그 자체로 보는 것이다. 이 기관 없는 신체의 특징이 아르토가 잔혹 연극에서 신체를 통해 목표하는 것이다. 재현이 종말을 고한 시대에 살고 있는 것처럼, 아르토는 재현적인 연극을 거부하고 신체의 감각적인 형태 변환적인 힘들을 끌어들여 다른 것-되기를 실현하는 횡단적 탈주선과 ‘이미지 없는 사유의 무서운 현현’을 추구한다.

영문 초록

  In this paper, the body without organs, Antonin Artaud"s Theater of Cruelty, and the relation between the body without organs and the Theater of Cruelty are illuminated. According to Deleuze, the body without organs has organs but it is not an organism, a coordinated, unified, regulated whole, with senses that operate together in their reports of the outside world. Deleuze likens the body without organs to the unicellular embryo of a biological entity, whose metastable distributions of energy delineate axes of movement, gradient, and zones of potential splitting without fixing or determining anyone of them as the definitive locus of cellular division. Secondly, in Artaud"s book, The Theatre and its Double, Artaud advocates what he call Theatre of Cruelty. By cruelty, he means not sadism or causing pain, but rather a violent, physical determination to shatter the false reality in which lies like a shroud over our perceptions. For Artaud, the Theatre of Cruelty is created in order to restore to the theatre a passionate and convulsive conception of life, and it is in this sense of violent rigour and extreme condensation of scenic elements that the cruelty on which it is based must be understood.
  This Theatre of Cruelty, Deleuze explains, not only dissolves language but also articulate its inarticulable passions and actions, converting cry-words and breath-words. In this sense, Artaud"s words themselves are affective intensities, asignifying stuttering within language that directly disrupt linguistic conventions. In the end, through the Theatre of Cruelty, he makes words-shards penetrating the body and lacerating the fresh, sonic blocks ecstatically melding with a body without organs.
