국문 초록

  실증분석 모델을 설정하면, Amsden의 이론과 같이 경제의 성장에의 기여가 새로운 기업을 일으키는 기업가의 활동에 의해서라기보다는 기존 기업의 확장에 의해서라는 가정을 테스트해 볼 수 있다. 한편 Jones와 Sakong의 주장과 같이 새로운 신생 기업의 창립이야 말로 경제 성장의 속도를 결정하는 보다 영향력 있는 요인이라는 가정도 성립한다. Jones와 Sakong의 가정에서 내재화된 지식의 확산과 창출은 개발도상국에 있어서 기업가 정신이 이윤을 창출하고 경제가 성장하도록 하는 주요 동인(動因)이다. 학습과 경험을 통해 얻어지는 내재화된 지식은 선진국으로부터 직접 도입된 지식이나 혹은 기계에는 필수불가결한 보완적 성격을 지닌 것으로 간주된다. 그러므로 산업화란 선진국에서 이미 존재하는 지식의 숙련 과정이라고 할 수 있으며, 그리고 이 과정은 그 자체적으로 보다 심도 있는 산업화를 위한 내재화된 지식을 생성해내는 것이다.

영문 초록

  With proper empirical model specification, the hypothesis whether the expansion of an existing firm is more important to economic growth(Amsden"s argument) than entrepreneurial activity establishing new firms can be tested. An alternative hypothesis is that the new establishment of brand new firms is a more influential factor in determining the speed of economic growth (Jones and Sakong"s argument). In the latter hypothesis, the creation and diffusion of localized knowledge is assumed to be the main force that makes entrepreneurship proliferate in the developing country and pushes the economy to grow. The localized knowledge that is obtained through "learning by doing" is regarded as an inevitable complement to directly imported knowledge or machinery from advanced countries. Thus, the industrialization is the mastering process of already existing knowledge in developed countries, and the process itself produces localized knowledge for further deepening industrialization.
