국문 초록

  언어는 인간으로 하여금 사고를 가능하게 하고 의사소통의 수단이 되어 문화의 중심에 자리하고 있다. 의사소통이란 현상 자체가 하나의 문화 현상일뿐만 아니라, 문화라고 하는 것이 의사소통에 기초하여 형성되고 변용되는 것이다. 따라서 국어교육은 기능 교육이기에 앞서 문화 교육이라야 한다.
  새로운 교육과정은 교과 목표와 성격에서 ‘국어 문화’란 용어를 되풀이했지만, 교과의 내용, 교수？학습 계획, 운용에서 일관성 있게 문화 교육을 고려하지 못했다. 중？고등학교 교재를 살펴보아도 문화 교육에 대한 체계적인 고려는 없다. 문화 교육은 의사소통 교육이면서 다중 문화에 대한 적응 교육이며 언어 교육이어야 한다. 언어 속의 문화 교육이며 문화 속의 언어 교육이고 언어 활동과 동반되는 문화 교육이라야 한다. 문화 교육의 기본 방향은 문화에 대한 개념과 특성을 이해하는 데에서 출발하여 국어 교과의 모든 영역에 걸쳐 구현되도록 계획되어야 한다. 문화 교육 정신과 내용을 충실히 반영하는 교재가 제작되도록 문화 교육 전문가가 참여하여야 한다.

영문 초록

  Language enables humans to think as well as to communicate with each other, and it is centered on human culture. Communication is a cultural phenomenon, and also culture is formed and acculturated on the basis of communication. Thus, Korean language education should be cultural education rather than functional education.
  In the new curriculum, the word ‘Korean-Language Culture’ is repetitively used in point of the curriculum aim and characteristics, but cultural education was not consistently considered in point of the curriculum, the instruction plan, the study plan and operation. Also, cultural education is not systematically reflected in the textbooks for middle and high school students. Cultural education should be for communication, multi-culture and language. It should be language-based cultural education, should be culture-based language education, and should be cultural education accompanied with speech function. The principal aim of cultural education should be set up on the assumption that the concept of culture and its characteristics should be understood, and should be so set up that it can be implemented in all the spheres of Korean-language curriculums. Such textbooks should be compiled by the specialists in cultural education in order that cultural spirit and contents may be fully reflected in those books.
