외국인 근로자 교재 제작

국문 초록

  본 논문은 현재 우리나라에서 노동 인력으로 입국하여 생활하고 있는 외국인 근로자들의 한국어 학습을 위한 전문적인 교재 제작에 관한 것이다. 논문의 구성은 다음과 같다.
  1장 머리말에서는 효과적이고 전문적인 외국인 근로자용 교재 개발의 필요성을 논하였다. 외국인 근로자들의 한국어 공부를 위하여 할애할 수 있는 시간적인 어려움을 고려하여 주 1회 1시간 반 정도의 시간을 소요하여 최소 25주 정도이면 한국어 능력 1급 정도의 수준에 준하는 실력을 갖출 수 있도록 하는 교재의 개발이 필요함을 서술하였다.
  2장 교재 제작의 필요성에서는 우선 외국인 근로자들의 한국어 학습에 사용하기도 하는 기존에 제작된 여성 결혼 이민자를 위한 교재가 근로자들에게는 사용이 부적합함을 설명하고 두 개의 선행 연구 논문의 결과에서 나타난 외국인 근로자용 교재에 대한 학습자들의 평가를 통하여 외국인 근로자용 교재의 문제점을 분석하였다. 외국인 근로자용 교재의 문법 체계의 약점과 어휘한정성으로 인한 약점을 보완하는 교재가 필요함을 서술하였다.
  그리고 학습자들이 원하는 적정 한국어 학습 시간을 고려할 때 대학 어학당용 교재, 학원용 교재가 적합하지 않음을 분석하여 외국인 근로자를 위한 전문 교재 제작의 필요성을 논하였다.
  또한 외국인 고용허가제에 의하여 고용이 허가된 국가들의 언어를 분석하여 대부분의 초급 교재에서 사용하고 있는 영어, 일어, 중국어 설명이 부적합함을 논하였다.
  3장 새로운 교재 제작의 목적에서는 우선 초급 교재가 누구를 대상으로 제작되어야 하는가에 대한 것을 논하였다. 선행 연구 논문의 결과를 사용하여 외국인 근로자들이 한국어를 배우는 이유와 동기를 분석하였다. 외국인 근로자들의 한국어 학습 요구 사항의 순위 분석을 통하여 한국어를 학습하고자 하는 외국인 근로자들의 실제적인 필요와 요구 사항이 무엇인지를 선행 논문의 연구 결과를 인용하여 서술하였다.
  4장 교재 제작의 방법과 내용 구성에서는 실제로 실험 제작중인 외국인 근로자용 초급 교재의 기존 교재와의 차별성을 소개하였다. 초급 교재의 내용을 단원별로 소개하면서 어떤 취지에서 순서를 잡았으며 내용을 실었는지를 상세하게 기술하였다. 제작중인 교재의 제1과를 소개함으로써 새로운 교재의 방향을 제시하였다.
  5장 외국인 근로자용 교재를 만들기 전에 고려해야 할 점들을 기술하였다. 내용 면과 교재 제작 시 드는 비용 면의 어려움을 간단하게 언급하였다.
  6장 맺음말에서는 초급 교재 제작의 필요성과 더불어 좀 더 효과적이고 전문적인 외국인 근로자용 중급과 고급의 한국어 교재가 제작되어야 함을 논하였다.
  이상의 논의에서 외국인 근로자를 위한 교재는 기존의 대학 교재나 학원교재와 따로 구분하여서 시중에 출간되어 있는 외국인 근로자를 위한 교재보다는 좀 더 심도 있고 세밀하게 제작되어야 하며 고용이 허가된 국가의 공용어 상황을 고려할 때 이 교재에서 가르칠 문법 설명이나 어휘들을 영어와 같은 매개 언어를 사용하지 않고도 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 방법이 더욱 개발되어야 한다고 본다. 이와 같이 개발되어 전문 제작된 교재가 외국인 근로자들이 언어의 어려움으로 인하여 소외되지 않고 한국 사회의 일꾼으로서, 한국 사회의 일원으로서 받아들여지는 데에 도움이 될 것이라고 본다.

영문 초록

  This is a study about making a specific Korean textbook for immigrant workers who are working in 3D fields in Korea. The composition of this article is as follows.
  In chapter Ⅰ, it comments on the necessity of development for a Korean textbook, that is specifically effective for immigrant workers. Considering immigrant workers" difficulty to spend time studying Korean, and the need of developing a textbook that can provide the ability that is equal to the level 1 Korean, if they spend at least half an hour each week for 25 weeks.
  Chapter Ⅱ explains that while the textbook is inappropriate for married immigrant women, it is occasionally used for Korean learning by immigrant workers, and through the evaluation, it is shown in the results of the two leading studies, by the learners about the exiting textbook for the immigrant workers, and the problems with the textbook are analyzed. The necessity of the book can complement the weak points of grammatical system and those caused from the limited vocabulary are described.
  And when it comes to the proper learning time desired, this chapter shows that textbooks of universities and private academies" are not appropriate for foreign learners and, describes how to make a more effective textbook.
  Moreover this chapter analyses the mother tongues of the 10 countries whose people were permitted to employers in Korea. According to it, this chapter comments on the inadequacy of English explanation, and Japanese, Chinese as well.
  In chapter Ⅲ, the study comments on the priority of readers of this textbook. This part analyses the reasons and motivations of immigrant learners by quoting from the results that have been reached before. Through the analysis that is about the learners" request and the rank, it describes what are the immigrant workers" real needs and requests who want to study Korean language.
  In chapter Ⅳ, it introduces the differences between the existing textbook and the book which is in the process of test production. It describes the purpose for the order of the units, and contents are revealed in this article, introducing each of unit in details. It presents a direction for the new textbook, with the introduction of the lesson 1 of the book which is in the process of test production.
  Chapter Ⅴ mentions the points that should be considered before making the book and the problems with making it in the aspect of contents and expenses.
  With the necessity of making the beginner"s level text book for the immigrant workers, it joins in chapter VI the conclusion that the effective and specific intermediate and advanced textbooks for immigrant workers must be produced.
  As stated above, the textbook for the immigrant workers must be produced in deeper detail, discriminating itself from the existing university textbooks or private academy textbooks in the market. When considering the situation of the official languages of the countries where employment is permitted, the effective teaching of grammar or vocabulary methods in the textbook must be developed so as not to need the mediation of a language such as English.
  The textbook will be developed and produced by specialty. It seems to help the immigrant workers not to be alienated from Korean society but to be accepted as members of it.
